I like your lineup. Think Maatsen will be here as our first choice and fingers crossed we get a decent CB to change of Fadz, made too many errors for me last season which cost us goals. Still not convinced on Sheaf but hey-ho it is what it is

Having both Walker & Gyokeres is strength in depth for strikers if we were to play this formation and gives us a bit of room to breathe if one gets injured but we all know Robbins plan will be to play with wingbacks unfortunately.

Sheafs gonna prove a few people wrong this year mark my words. I like him a lot and think if he cuts out the errors the same way everyone else did with playing time at this level he’ll be a top player. His passing range is only bettered by Hamer IMO and that’s what you want at the base of the midfield. Plus he adds much needed height to the team.

I honestly don’t think we’ve got the fullbacks in the squad to play a flat back four.

Will be interesting to see how the new coach impacts the defence. Isn’t his speciality positioning out of play someone said? Definitely something that needed improving last year.

We won league one by default, let’s be real. Had we of played out all the remaining games I very much doubt we would of won the league. We weren’t winning the league for the whole season, we were only No1 for a couple of weeks right at the end.

Championship is a whole different beast

Yes, just scraped it, 5 points clear with a game in hand, only lost 3 all season

Nonsense. We’d have won L1. We were easily the best team in it that season.

Some people have really short memories. We were by far the best team in the league.

We were 7 points clear of Rotherham with a game in hand. We were unbeaten in something like 16 games, had won perhaps 5 or 6 away games on the bounce, were scoring in every game and were conceding very few. We didn't win the league by default. We won it because we were the best team in that league, playing the best football. The fact the league was halted robbed our team of romping away with the title, something I am convinced we would have done. It was the change to playing wing backs that was the start of our really good run. It's a bit sad that you would downgrade our season of triumph (we don't get many of those) to suit your argument on team formation.

Right. For clarity: I was responding to a post about getting Waghorn, Godden, Bright and O’Hare in the same team. I think we’ll play 3412 with O’Hare and two strikers.

You must be on the wind up. We were by far the best team in the league, we had a 5 point lead with a game in hand.

Our last loss was 14th December and since then we had won 11 and drawn 3 = 37 points from 14 games 2.7 point per game and in that period we'd played 4 of the other 5 in the top 6, unbeaten with 8 points from those 4 games.

To say we were unlikely to win the league is bonkers.

Absolute tosh about us not going to win the league. We had just played (unscathed) 3 of the main contenders at home Pompey, Rotherham and Sunderland and beaten Ipswich away. We hadn't lost a game since Shrewsbury away (in November/December?). Even the Mackems who hate us grudgingly accepted that we should have been promoted. Their anger was at Rotherham, who they believed were catchable, and more so at Wycombe who snuck in above them on the ppg ratio that was applied. We were the best team that season (only promoted team that stayed up last season - comfortably)

It’s mind boggling if the poster isn’t on a wind up. 7 points clear with a GIH and lost 3 all season. Even other managers said they had no issues confirming us as champions.
Come on….think about it.
