I thought Agent Bidwell got Grimes to our semi final in the f.a. cup and that gave him a taste of what it might be like at cov. Then he sees Lampard coming in and Bidders and Lati are telling him on the WhatsApp that the club is heading in the right direction.
We then put in 3 bids for Grimes that window. No doubt he would be told by Swansea a bid has come in for him and would say through his agent he really wanted to consider it.
I would be surprised if agents and clubs aren't talking prior to any bids as to the likelihood of them being accepted.
If I was a Swansea fan I would be gutted but we benefited big time. I understand the boos by Swansea. Ultimately I think Swansea couldn't match his ambition at the time so he wanted to take a chance. Tbf it seems like the right call for him.

Yep, football fans are football fans, and often there’s no logic to their response to previous players. Grimes gave 10 good years to Swansea, City met the asking price and I’m guessing that Grimes felt his career would benefit from a fresh challenge, and additionally, we were probably a better prospect for progress than Swansea at that time, and so it’s been proved. Grimes’s service to Swansea didn’t warrant that response, but it’s football fans, innit?

Football is tribal. 99% of the time fans take the bitter version. Liverpool fans used to be quite good and appreciating former players from memory

In addition, we cheer Hamer and boo O’Hare - nuts. Ok, O’Hare ran his contract down, but it looked to me that Robins was freezing him out in the second half of the season. He always gave his all in the Coventry shirt. I wouldn’t cheer or boo either of them, prefer to focus on our own players.

Yeh, and in many ways this tribalism is what sets football apart from other sports, which is what makes it a great sport for football fans.

Even accounting for our collective tribalism, that last photo is disgraceful really. He gave them ten years of a short career, and turned down multiple opportunities to leave. If they think that of him, god knows how they’d have handled a situation like O’Hares. They need to have a massive word with themselves, and they just look like 🔔🔚s from outside of their echo chamber

I think it was a very difficult decision for him to have to make coming here, especially having to uproot the family after ten years, kids settled at school along with the family's social life etc.
It's never 100% football based as there are so many other factors to take into consideration. Something some fans either ignore or don't understand.
