When u can pass like he does and plays as deep as he does not sure he wants to be on his arse much. I would prefer to watch him drill 30 yards passes over back tracking left backs and right backs all in a panic. Because they know with space behind trying to stop EMC, Wright, Tatsu, Milan, Simms and Bassette running with the ball would be be a nightmare.

Oooh. Well if she is coughing up the money, maybe we should give her a list of targets.

"We'll tell her who we want, who we really, really want."

I hope we are not getting too far ahead of ourselves with this. I can imagine this news might alert a few other clubs to try and snatch him off us which would be hugely disappointing now we are all discussing him as if he has already signed.

Most of the football world would know this is happening anyway

This thread is going to look really silly if the deal doesn’t go through. We can speculate but there are posts on this and the other thread which are taking it for granted the deal will go through

On a side note, thank god I don’t have to use the Swansea (or Luton for that matter) forum every day…

Looks like it belongs in the early 2000s

He would be brilliant in that role Allen has been playing
We definitely need a replacement for Sheaf if he goes and currently our backup option for Allen is only Eccles while Sheaf is out but overall it looks like he might be better than any of them.

Speculation, but if he did... we would certainly know.
If he did he wouldn’t have wanted anything in return …. Except unfettered access to the players, manager, access to behind closed doors fixtures., and a small but hard core posse of worshippers.

Always thought he’s looked a good player at this level. Swansea fans probably can’t see it because he’s been there 10 years and he’d need to be the pivot in a well balanced midfield to get the best out of him.

Would be impressed by this one. Does this mean Sheaf is potentially exiting sooner than the summer and that’s how the cash has become available?

I’d like to hope he’d be as well as sheaf, get him on a new deal

Not for me

there are bargains out there to be had
We couldn't afford Grimes if he was younger.

Only 29 so a few years of top service left. If he was 26 you'd be looking at multiples of the fee.

Since King took over we've been getting rid of our experienced players and signing prospects. Yes they're better value in the long run, but they could do with someone to learn from. Since Lampard took over we have had Bidwell extend his contract mid season and now it looks like Grimes is joining. Grimes will become captain at some stage.

Just the player we need for the playoff push. With EMC and Wright to come back we're turning into a side to worry others.

What I will say he’s a bit of “boring” midfielder. But I personally think exactly what we need for balance; that’s why the current system has worked well with Allen playing that deeper roll. That would be Grimes job instead.

It's like the flat earth.

I'll believe it when I see it.
