Football club in being run like a business shocker.

Not saying i agree with the prices, but is anybody actually surprised.

Of course people are surprised. We didn't sell out a number of cat a games last season when kids were charged £25. We're now charging up to £35. It's a massive surprise. Increase in STs is minimal, the ground plan and available seats doesn't look much different to last season. We're not selling these at £45 whatever people say:

We're talking the top A and A+ prices. We'll get a decent gate against Hull, but as soon as the first cat a+ game comes around people will swerve it and I hope they do. £36 for kids for a 12.30 televised game against blues early in the season is not the draw you think it is.

It's not the draw Doug thinks it is, it's a disgrace. Those Cat A+ cannot be defended.

The prices in the other categories are around average for the Championship though.

We have a politics thread with over 1,500 pages and mostly full of the most socialist views out there, and yet I find myself (generally more of a capitalist backer) debating on the side that the prices are too high and greedy because everyone craves the next Messi.

Historically I've been against salary caps, but I've now concluded that something needs to happen to regulate the whole industry with wages, agents, transfers and ticket prices.

The hospitality matchday prices have been released . There is a Season Ticket discount to upgrade ( a lot of people on here have asked for that)
Doesn’t say what the discount is ( might depend on the price of your current seat) but not publishing this would Lead you to believe it’s not much of a discount.

He will, but it's almost like people have therefore seen Cat A (not A+) as acceptable, simply because of the rip-off games likely to be Blues, Leicester and possibly Wrexham.

Even Cat A which will have 6 or 7 more games in, at £38+£1 and £28+£1 for kids is still disgusting. Dad and a five year old = £68 for a non-premium Championship game !!!

I have a suspicion the idea is to squeeze as much cash out of away supporters for the big couple of games and then set everything else at the lower categories.

Shef Utd cat B pricing:


Blues initial games are as below. Imagine Ipswich first home game might be a Cat A and Oxford Cat B/C
Season opener v Ipswich:
Adults - £30-37
Juniors - £15-22.5 (ignoring family area)

First Saturday game v Oxford:
Adults - £25-32.5
Juniors - £10-17.5 (ignoring family area)


Means we're in a similar ball park or a touch more than both of them for the middle bands.
But £75-80 for a parent and child to go watch a 2nd tier match is bullshit. It'll hopefully only be 2 or 3 games, but i dont understand the point of it.
Lets say its 4 games worst case (brum, wba, leicester, boxing day) and we've got circa 4k tickets available on the gate? Maybe less.
£7 increase to CatA+ gives total potential added revenue of £112,000, probably less.
Thats 4% of the rumoured Pereira fee, 3% of the KKH fee.
It'll make very little difference to the club, so why create a PR issue over it, surely Doug and co have the foresight to know that A+ band would get ripped apart.

Cat A+ is definitely steep, the only saviour is it's probably only going to be a couple of games (Birmingham, Leicester, maybe last game of the season).

I agree, the rest looks fairly standard Championship pricing. Until the TV money is filtered down better, ticket pricing in general in the Championship is only going in one direction unfortunately.

It's the cat a prices that are crazy. Under 12s at Leicester for their cat A games start at £7 and highest is £15. We have a blanket £35 price for young kids. Adult prices are eye watering as they are, but to charge that for young children if totally out of sync with the rest of the league.

25/26 Adult Season Ticket holders can get a discount of £10 per person off the price of our hospitality packages too!

The same people wanting new signings and a bigger squad are same people who want somebody else to pay for it, it seems! Given the gulf with the PL it's inevitable that the club would seek to make money from walkup ticket sales. If the ground is full then there isn't a strong argument against it really.

TV money will just mean more spent on transfers and wages by clubs chasing the golden egg because supporters are unrealistic and expect instant success. All that does is breeds higher pricing and even more greed. It won't make a difference at all to ticket pricing. It's crazy if everyone had less, the playing field would still be just as equal.

I'll make a prediction now, those prices will put off away fans who travel with kids, (£35 fucking quid!), and we'll see far more coked up, pissed up little knobs heads in the away end and an increase I trouble.
That may also apply to our away support if/when clubs reciprocate

I am a non season ticket holder and someone liable to have to pay these prices, but nevertheless I don't get the level of bleating about this. Entertainment prices have risen massively in the last few years. Going to a Test Match or a decent gig costs more than double the price from 10 years ago, and much higher than these prices.. Given football is the major spectator sport in the UK it shouldn't really be a surprise if it follows suit, particularly in our case where there are only limited seats available from match to match.

The only way these prices become an issue is if the team under perform, but if that were the case then the extra supporters would probably have stayed away anyway at last seasons prices.

Test matches and gigs aren't weekly occurrences for most people.
And their are plenty of seats available, we rarely sell out despite what some on here would have you believe.
