I saw a video of someone robbing/attacking a shop owner for refusing to wear a mask. The irony

Doesn't surprise me. As long as no one was spitting in other people's faces then I don't see a huge problem with it at this point.

Problem is Typhoid Mary knew she was a carrier. She withheld it the info from employers and carried on working in different households and spreading despite this knowledge. That's why she's so notorious.

Not strictly true. Mary Mallon initially kept moving jobs because wherever she worked, people got sick. She didn't realise it was her spreading it for some time, as she wasn't getting sick.

It all got a bit ridiculous after that.

Good piece in the Observer today about it.

Hope they bring in the vax passports then all the Heros can stay at home and beg for a free stream to watch the match.
Both my children are anti vax even though me and my wife both had Covid , we had it mild compared to some but it ain't no joke.

Love the way all the maniacs say "muzzle" instead of mask. "Wake up sheeple"

Worked with someone for a bit who said Covid was made in a lab so we could progress faster towards a cashless society. He said "muzzle" instead of mask. Woof!

It’s quite simple for me. Respect each other’s decision to wear or not wear one, and don’t be a dick about things. There’s still a pandemic out there.

Love the earlier post where someone tries to talk about how diseases have worked for thousands of years while maintaining that he'd simply just know if he had it. World class stuff.

I'm getting a distinctive gamony smell from some on here. "I don't care what science says I know better" yeah of course you do mate, you can have it put on your gravestone. One day people will realise that there is no upside for any government in halting their economy and maybe, just maybe they are trying to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. The shame about the British public (and the reason we had lockdown for so long) is we can't trust a large proportion of people to just do the right thing.

While the science says wearing a mask will help in not spreading the virus, I will continue to wear one.

I care for others though, so maybe I am just odd.

Wearing a mask can be inconvenient...sure, but it is really the VERY LEAST anyone can do, to selflessly help protect other people...if only in a small way.
People who moan about wearing a mask and complain about their loss of liberty, ought to spend a few years living in somewhere like Belarus...hopefully they would then realise how lucky we are to live in such a free country.

Why in these appalling days of the pandemic, where over 4 million people have died worldwide, do some ordinary people in various ordinary jobs, suddenly believe that they know more than epidemiologists who have studied and trained their entire lives, in the incidence, distribution and control of diseases ?
NB Reading a few dodgy web pages from the internet does not make you an expert on diseases.

And to those who say we developed the vaccines too quickly, fucking hell...did you want us to take a nice long time about about it, so that a few more million people died ?
The fact that multinational companies and governments worldwide dropped almost everything else, and joined together to create not one, but several vaccines in record time, is a fantastic thing that we should all be grateful for.

Me, i'm happy to wear a mask at the stadium...it's no big deal to me, and if it reduces the risk of the disease being passed on, even in a small way, it's got to be worth it.

I'd suggest getting a vaccine is significantly more beneficial on a personal and collective level than wearing a mask

Yeah but also let’s pretend individualism is the most important tenet of existence, society doesn’t exists and we never do anything as a collective and invoke the slippery slope fallacy to pretend wearing a mask leads to an authoritarian state.

The good thing about wearing a mask is that you can walk near people mumbling abuse and they have no idea if it was you. It's like when I log in here as Dom

For almost two years nearly everyone in this country has followed rules, rules set to often protect other people and not themselves specifically.

This implication that we are a selfish society is totally burned out in my opinion.

I sat a few times in a bar in new street station waiting for my train just watching the concourse it was clear 10-20% of people didn't have a mask even though it was mandatory (lets not pretend they were all exempt, even the society for Asthma suggested it was better to wear a mask than not) the amount of times people pushed past me in a shop to get something out of a fridge or off a shelf was unnerving and generally was the age group of the people we were trying to protect at the time. There is a larger proportion of selfish people in our society than you give credit for. If there wasn't it would be nowhere near as bad as it's been.
