He clearly does rate him, "very dynamic player, with two good feet and a very good shot and technique. When I came Josh saw himself as a six. I saw it differently and thought he could offer more higher up the pitch. But he has that versatility which is good for us as a squad."

I really like Eccles and I think he is an important player for us. Looks like Lampard thinks that too
i think eccles pigeon holed himself as a #6, and its takes someone with the calibre and history to say to a midfielder, you have the talent of an #8, like lampard said, theres goals in Eccles, he just needs to unlock it, remember hes only 25What a midfield we got.
Eccles would walk into most teams midfields but a handfull in this league.

It's good to have at least one home-grown player in the first team. It seems that most teams who go up to the Prem have one who has been there all the way and gets some game time. If we do manage promotion I would love to see Eccles coming on in a huge game against a big club.
