Which calls out some of the bullshitters on here from last season who claimed; Lampard didn't rate him as a player and he would be gone in the summer.
He clearly does rate him, "very dynamic player, with two good feet and a very good shot and technique. When I came Josh saw himself as a six. I saw it differently and thought he could offer more higher up the pitch. But he has that versatility which is good for us as a squad."

Since breaking into the team he has made steady progress. I think Robins and Lampard have hinted at the fact the only thing that holds him back at times is belief.
I know after Robins made that sort of statement he made him captain for a game shortly after. As if to say look you are a senior player now.
I have always liked the look of him. He rarely lets us down whatever role he is asked to do. He has a feisty streak as well.
I also think he is one that we can develop even more.
i think eccles pigeon holed himself as a #6, and its takes someone with the calibre and history to say to a midfielder, you have the talent of an #8, like lampard said, theres goals in Eccles, he just needs to unlock it, remember hes only 25
It's good to have at least one home-grown player in the first team. It seems that most teams who go up to the Prem have one who has been there all the way and gets some game time. If we do manage promotion I would love to see Eccles coming on in a huge game against a big club.

Be wonderful wouldn’t it. Also having Eccles and Allen around for Cup games would be genuinely strong with their experience. However, I realise squad depth and size isn’t infinite so can’t get too sentimental.
