Some mental comments here. Esse is clearly very gifted, hejust in the trap of young player moving to bigger club and then not playing.
He just needs a full season in the championship to hoan those key decision making skills. To suggest he’s “shit” / lg1 is frankly mental.

he’s not played for us because Tats, got rested then has been a man possessed since - un droppable - only reason.

Esse has PL attributes, hence why £12million was paid for him.

Hoping to see Markelo get a few more minutes. He's put some really decent balls in for the cameo appearances so far and we look so much better playing a bit braver and pushing up the pitch. The prem is not the place to try to develop a new talent.

Esse's return ball to Onyeka for the first goal was classy - could have played it to his feet, but rightly chose to send him forward into the penalty area. Played another great one in the second half too (to Dasliva?).

Clearly talented, just frustratingly prone to trying to do too much. Currently well behind EMC or Tats in terms of reliable value to the team.

Everyone moans about lack of flair players in the modern game yet when a KID tries a trick people get angry and say stop trying it etc

These are same people who say they hate pep ball yet they refuse to accept us losing the ball at all in a game

Fucking dumb. Let him try his fucking tricks. Alot of them work and he will only get better by trying stuff in game and then realising what to do more and what to do less.

There is a medium between the two.

There's playing the safe, possession football where you just pass it across the field to each other without ever creating a chance that is both ineffective and boring.

Then there is trying fancy flicks pretty much every time you get the ball (including in your own defensive position). and going AWOL from your position. That's exciting, but usually ineffective and costly. If it worked then everyone would be telling their youngsters to do it. The reason they're not telling them that is because it usually doesn't work.

Being a flair player doesn't mean you have to be trying stuff for the entire 90mins. It's about turning on that flair when it is appropriate and when there is a decent opportunity for it to be successful.

Let's not pretend he's trying to juggle the ball everytime he gets it

He did plenty of run down wing and cross it in moves too
