I know football is a results based business, but it shouldn't always be how a manager is judged especially when you look at budgets and spending power these days... It's not just as simple as that anymore.

We all remember the state of the club when we were plummeting into league 2 and we all remember that fear that we would continue to go further down.

What Robins has done here is actually quite remarkable, the club has an identity right the way through .. Listening to commentators and fans of other clubs... Plus opposition managers it's quite clear that they know when they play Coventry City, that they are playing a very good footballing team.
We command a respect that we probably haven't been able to Command since the late 80s

From a club of has beens and overpaid players coming to end of their careers to a club that is actively recruits youngsters with the aim of developing their talent, A Club now seen by many as a place they are happy to send their youngsters to develop on loan, and a club that players Want to play for.

In regards to this season, there is always that fear of relegation in the back of our minds, but Robins Must be able to continue the development and growth of the football side irrespective of where we finish... Because its never been so evident that we have an identity and that identity will eventually allow us to flourish and potentially over achieve... It's quite frankly been a joy to watch the football side of things grow into what we have today.. And I personally can only see it getting better.

I made this post as already there are a very small number of supporters questioning Robins on other social media sites without taking into consideration our meteoric rise and what it takes long term to create a fantastic club from a team on the verge of dropping into oblivion.. sometimes that takes more than just money and power and should always be applauded...
Hopefully him and Viveash are here for years PUSB

My biggest fear for the season. We have to stick by him.

Even if we go down. Worried the shouty crew will start after a few defeats.

The only time il see it acceptable he goes are if we're abject until February and 20 points from safety with 2 wins. Which wont happen

Really? I was about to say I'm surprised but I'm not.
Anyone questioning Robins position needs fucking and their clothes burning. (That doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to question some of his selections or decisions), but questioning whether he's the right man for the job is stupidity on a grand scale.

Said it before I’ll say it again. We could lose 46/46 this season and I’d still want Robins here next year. If anything he’ll have been a victim of his own success getting us promoted before we were ready.

I completely agree that Robins has set the bar very high by going up but im not convinced we'd have been more ready in 1, 2 or 3 years time. If anything i reckon we'd have lost key players and possibly found it tougher. Either way though, Robins has been the driving force behind a massive turnaround here.

Couldn’t agree more with the OP Robins has completely transfomed the club in every
department, ability, belief, hope, expectation, integrity and a real sense of identity has
surged through the club during his stewardship, this will not have been lost on SISU.

Our main problem ‘however we fare this season‘ will be keeping him out of the clutches
of other clubs who can see what he’s doing here and would love him and his assistants
to emulate it with them ‘but with a bigger budget.

I love the bloke, but if we lost 46 out of 46, he would have clearly lost the plot and I would be wanting shot of him asap.

if we go down promotion may have come too soon it’s no big deal with dust ourselves off and go again to return...we have the right man for the job in Mark Robins the step from league 1 to championship is massive in confident we can stay up but it’s gonna be tight and go down to the wire.

Everyone? From what I’ve seen most are expecting a relegation battle or lower mid table. This year will be a battle. Think we’ll have enough though.

it’s unrealistic to keep someone who’d have failed badly - his objective is survival and failure to achieve has to have consequences

Even if we get relegated, I do think we’ve got a good squad and framework to bounce back up.

I’m happy with our squad, a couple of loanees would be nice. We’ll be fine this season.

Should we hear you out on this?

Obviously hyperbole is beyond some people as a rhetorical device, but let’s be frank the budget we have isn’t close to enough to survive. Expectation is relegation. If we stay up he’s done a good job. If we go down he’s light years ahead of any manager in my lifetime in terms of what he’s achieved with the club and would IMO be more likely to take us straight back up again.

But if you want a return to Andy Thorn and the like for instant success you do you.

This is yet another thread dedecated to the worry worts and pessimist.

For the love of God, we are back in the championship by right. We have seen some very good transfer dealings to improve the squad, and I have seen nothing to be fearful of. We have a great footballing style, playing out from the back and closing down space, winning the ball back quickly. Our possession football (aka, Man City) will suprise a few in this league, and as we grow into the championship along with a bit more steal we have now, success is assured. I'd take lower mid- table in our first season, but fully expect MR's is looking to do much better. I'd not be surprised if we are flirting with a chance of sneaking into a play-off birth with half a dozen games to go.

We are not going to lose 46 games. We play Wycombe twice for a start.
I'm not saying we definitely won't be relegated, but one thing I am certain of, is that we won't go down without a fight.
We were unlucky on Saturday, we didn't exactly field our strongest team against Gillingham, and we should have won that comfortably.
Lets see what happens tomorrow, and in the next few games before allowing negativity to set in.
