Yes, he's just turned 72 at the beginning of the month. He was on his third marriage and happy.

He had a son (me), and two daughters in his first marriage, and three daughters, a son and a step-son in his second marriage. There are 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Horrible losing a parent. Its the year anniversary of my dads passing this weekend and I still find it hard to comprehend that he's not around anymore.

I didn’t realise you were related! So sorry for your loss Stu. He really was a good bloke you could tell. Sounds like he lived a full life even if he went too early.

So sorry to hear this. Yes, me and him differed on plenty of things here, but I'm sure that face to face, maybe over a pint or two, we'd have got on just fine, because, well, Coventry City.

Hope you're bearing up, @stupot07 - I know it's not something that anyone can ever really prepare for.

Anyway, you've got mates here. Even people who might disagree strongly with every single post you make, will still want to support you through this. I don't know if that helps or not, but I hope it does, a little.

As the saying goes, grief is the price you pay for love, and if you are lucky enough to have a loving parent, that is a precious thing.
