Is it time to start using him a bit more in the first team? He has come on a few times but would be ideal as the link between midfield and the front two.

He might just be a little bit too lightweight :(

It's a delicate thing Isn't It Nick ,we all thought Bigi would be all that ,James certainly looks like he's got It In the locker ,but up against the Bullies in this league you'd worry .

You never know unless It's tried of course .

I can't believe this area wasn't sorted through the summer !!

Agree.

That's my one worry. He's very slight. think he needs to bulk up just a bit. Otherwise he looks really promising.

I think he needs a loan spell to a lower mid table League 2 club to gain some experience. Some like Mansfield or York. Somewhere he can play and also improve. Cant see him breaking into the 1st team for a while, so its bets to get him playing elsewhere to continue his development

Needs a loan move to go and play with men who will kick and hack him all game to stiffen him up abit, the potential is their for all to see but would get bullied too much in league one, especially when we already have a team full of softies.

Games changed theses days, smaller technical players are player higher up the leagues now as they are protected more. Look at Raheem sterling, fast an skillfull, yet not very big an a international player. (When not tired) I'd give him his chance.

The thing is, higher up the leagues is fine but League One is a bit rougher than say the Premier League. Not as much time before getting taken out.

This was always the question with Bigi.

To me, Maddison (or Madderz as he likes to be known) plays in position which allows him to be the size he is. That attacking midfield position is played by small players around the world, Ozil, Messi, Robben etc..

In this league, it is a tad more physical, but if he's good enough, his size won't matter.

Yeah maybe a little less time but no point in sending him out on loan then to say the conference or L2 to be kicked around where it is still a lot more physical, may as well blood him here where he'll have to desire to prove himself an stake his claim for a regular spot. Just my theory to it.

I think he would get bullied out the game to much in this league, too many older heads in midfields across the league would eat him and then the fans would be on his back, yes hes quick and skillful, but not ready to start a game, is a clever option to come on.

Tricky one indeed. The kid needs experience, but to expose too much in what is a losing team (at the moment) may not do him much good. A JPT start in the next round, FA Cup coming up also? See how he fares in games that in the big scheme of things don't realy matter.

Our current first team gets bullied out the game so I don't think wed have anything to lose playing him. I know its a different league but the physicality can't be that much difference between league 1 and 2. I think the big gap is the championship and league one. At least he would look to go forward and play the ball for Jackson and McQuoid etc.

If Norway can play a 15 year old at International level, then we can Maddison in League One surely.

Great idea our schools are full of 15 year olds why buy another player?

Sterling is a good example, yes a 19 year old can play in the first team or even at International level. But they are still developing physically and mentally and need to be looked after.

he needs blooding but with a view to bringing him on for next season rather than the saviour for this one.

I wouldn't say he's any more slight than the young lad who scored the free-kick for Crewe on Saturday.

If he's good enough, get him in. At least he looks like he wants to be out there.

might as well get a couple of games out of him before he goes to Derby or somewhere similar for 500k in the summer

I think he's the type of player that we are lacking, an attacking midfielder/striker who can link the midfield and attack although he probably isn't ready for first team football at this level

Where has this idea come from that league one is all beefy hatchet men stealing pocket money? Players are protected as they are across football, they're just slightly worse.

an attacking midfielder/striker who can link the midfield and attack, one who can defend, attack with flanks and is excellent in goal

The boy did well against a very big defence. Dropped an linked play up well, always thinking about the forward ball an run. Great pass for miller to get in behind an score. Worth his place in the match day squad.
