If Spurs get relegated or either way do we make a bid for Maddison .. injuries aside which we know players can recover from in today’s game, he has the experience, quality and connection to be a good fit for us if we get promoted.

I get the idea and it’s crossed my mind but he’s injury prone. The one he has at the minute is a bad one too

Why - just because he’s an ex player?

Imagine rotation between Maddison and Rudoni in the 10 role.

He has got that natural ability that could really help us in a difficult season, but he just seems to be injured all the time now and his wages would likely be astronomical.

On a similar note, I was wondering if Son might be tempted? He seems to have a bit of a soft spot for us. Is getting on a bit now though, in semi-retirement in the MLS and again wages would probably be pretty steep.

He's on over 100k a week.
We're not paying anyone anywhere near that

Leeds are paying players over 100k/week it’s the going rate

We won't. And it's not the going rate, there isn't a going rate, the range of salaries is huge.

That's not yo say you're wrong that Leeds are paying players 100k but I doubt everyone in their squad us on anything near that

Maddison is on £170/week Calvert
Lewis at Leeds is on £100k .. Xhaka Sunderland is on £110k . It’s what you need to pay to inject quality into your side. Would def’ be our max but the ceiling is high.
Just seen Man City squad 50% are on £100k - £550k per week .. mental

Lets say we could pay him 100k a week (we can’t)

Why would he agree to take an almost 50% wage cut to play for a team that will very likely be relegated anyway?

If we go up and Spurs go down they would still be more likely to be a premier league team in 27/28 than we would.

I wonder what our maximum wage will be should we go up ?

Hard to know isn’t it

I think people should temper expectations though- suspect our summer will look closer to Luton’s than Sunderland’s (IF we go up).

We are far bigger than luton , we will do better than they did

I know its hard but luton are luton

Financially I think we’re more similar than not.

All our business will have to be sensible in case of relegation. King can’t bankroll us like the Sunderland bloke.

According to their books they spent 84.9 and made a 49 mill profit

They never wanted to survive nor did they really try

Not going to people good enough with that.

Best we can hope for is offer highish wages (say 75k a week) but they agree to take a hefty pay cut in Champ if we go down but we reduce our fee if they do.

Fans always get so hung up on "x player earns £££s at this club, why would he take less at another"?

There's plenty of reasons players can/will/do take pay-cuts. Just because a player is on £170 at spurs, that doesnt mean theyll NEVER play for less anywhere else.

Injury, age, more game time, sentiment. There are many reasons why a player would take a pay-cut. Why would Rashford agree to reduce his wage of £315k a week at Utd to £190k a week at Barca? No reason AT ALL, yet he has.

Paddy Bamford was on £70k a week at Leeds, but the fact he was ready to sign for us (not a chance were we offering 50% of that) suggested he was happy to take a huge pay-cut to play football.

Jack Greilish will likely NEVER get a pay deal like Man City pay him. So when he leaves them, does he take or pay-cut? Nah, might aswell give up playing football altogether rather than take a huge pay-cut.

*edit, this isnt me saying we're gonna sign Maddison, just that a player taking a pay-cut isnt that crazy an idea!

If they hadn't capitulated that 3-0 lead against Forest they'd have most likely stayed up. They were making a decent fist of it until then.

Small margins.
