Well that was quick.

Source?

Even if it isn't true she should've claimed it, best PR the council have had in ages.

CWR this morning. ACL have hurried a statement saying they did through the football league. Labowitz says a deal to buy the whole stadium was agreed including buying the whole mortgage. The club deny they ever had a rent free offer.

No need to be embarrassed as the only people hearing or giving a shit about this news is us. It's still ridiculous though.

Then why have SISU being complaining over the past 12 months or so that they were pissed off because in meetings with the Council the Council weren't prepared to discuss the sale of the freehold?

Picking out what suits you again Grendel? Good wind up though!

Despite not even being close to what is being reported on the radio.

Saddest part is that an offer has to be made via the football league rather than directly as relationship is so poor.

When you deal with the SISU idiots and you offer and offer but they will not negotiate you have to turn to somebody who should see sense.
If the FL review this they will see an offer costing the club nothing and should see that SISU are just playing.
Forget match day costs as these are paid by every club.
FL do your job or what are you about.

An accurate summary as follows;

Cwr said that the council leader has said she had not offered the deal as she is not empowered to (this is of course correct). Strange I must be hearing things as no one else seems to remember that one.

Secondly ACL have through weber Shadwick produced a statement that states the offer has been made but via the football league.

CCFC deny they received the offer - perhaps its lost I'm the post

CCFC made an offer to buy the stadium and ACL which all parties agreed to and included buying the £14 million pound loan. They had agreed the management company to run the stadium on their behalf. No denial as yet as far as I am aware.

Lucas having publically stared she would re-enter talks about ground purchase did not discuss this option when meeting Seppella

Seems a fair summary to me - what is incorrect.

When was the agreement about buying the stadium? Was this the one a while ago or recently?

what grendull has posted is probably correct, its possibly what he hasn't posted is the problem. he is the sound bite king afterall.

It is true with what he said. Ann Lucas didn't make the offer, Acl did.

Still doesn't explain the main part of this story of why sisu didn't accept.

Did they not accept it due to the alleged £320,000 matchday costs?

Presumably all the stewards work for free in Northampton and electricity is provided by jump leads attached to a nearby street light?

.....I wasn't suggesting they are correct to turn it down......just that it is a key reason they give for declining the offer....

as for costs at Northampton.....it would be nice to get some clarification into what is & isn't included in the rental costs....

The police do it for the love of football fans.

It would have to be an estimate as it depends on number of fans from both teams. £10,000 a match (approx. quoted) would be tops I suggest.

The title you used with says it all.

I would suggest leads the majority to believe no offer was ever made.

It was by ACL through the football league ( which I imagine is a way of exposing the football league to what is really happening here)

Glad you have clarified and presented a more accurate depiction.

Offer not made by Lucas, was made by ACL

Still rent free for a year and was rejected by SISU

Says it all would have done.

Think it will be from a while ago, think that the JR hinges upon that really.

And possibly the signed documents that Tim allegedly has from the council.

I have to say the Journalistic talents are lacking all around.Where In the last couple of days has anyone said a deal was struck or on. They are running with a denial that a deal was done.

What did the Football league say?

It seems they won't say anything.

If ACL really sent the offer to the football league its a joke. They know full well they will not send on this to the club.

It's pathetic. If the offer is there it has to be made direct. Making it to an organisation that will feel compromised if they get involved so will not deal with it is effectively saying there is no offer.

It would seem the whole point of sending it to the football league is so they do.

Seems a sensible strategy from ACL tbh. If the club in the form of Labovitch say they never received the offer, the Football League can point out if they receiven *an* offer communicated from the football league...

and detail about what the offer actually *was*.

It takes away the 'he said, she said' element to a degree, as they should by rights have less vested interests in swaying our opinion than either of the two main protagonists.

And If as we all know ,In truth there was never a chance these discussions would resolve things ,Then for the Record in Legal Terms a deal got offered before the drawbridge Is pulled up.

It's what the detail *is* too.

For too long we've had fake offers designed to pull at heart strings; rent frees not offered to the club but to administrator, Hoffman's pay the rent that wasn't paying the rent at all (and charging some management fees too ;) ).

Maybe there are catches now, and alas making it via the football league can allow the club to truthfully say no offer has been made to the club from ACL.

But there's an organisation with a vested interest in helping the club, with the information in front of them.

And so they can release that information. Even if the answer's 'whoops, we never sent it on to the club because the offer was so full of holes there was no offer' they have the power to say what offer, if any, there can be on the table.

ML was very clear in saying that no such offer had been made "directly" to the club.

It would seem an odd adverb to use unless it was there to avoid admitting that an offer had been made via a third party.

Yeah he was always going to say that, and tbf to him undoubtedly true. Also in some respects it does indeed continue the game playing of not actually speaking to one another, so you could see the club's POV for wanting a chat face to face. I'd have thought cc'ing someone in, even in the traditional paper way, would have been more profitable, but there you go.

What I would be doing if I were ACL however, is press the football league to make clear the details of the offer communicated to them and whether they passed on all the detail, and then make that exact same offer directly to the club. Those would be the next moves I'd have thought about, expecting that very response.

Assuming there are no hidden surprises, anyway ;)
