Lowest moment in our history? (1 Viewer)

Made the trip up to Crewe to watch the Sky Blues, optimistic after our spirited performance against Birmingham. With a few thousand City fans dominating the atmosphere at Gresty Rd and the sun shining I felt it could be a good day. Never did I anticipate feeling, possibly the angriest I've ever felt as a City fan, an hour and a half later as I feel the club reached its lowest point in its history.

Apart from a bit of early pressing from City, we didnt worry Crewe in the slightest. The diamond shape which I feel has unconvincingly shown promise proved highly uneffective as City lacked width and attacking ingenuity against a fairly average league one side. For some strange reason this club still believes in lumping it forward to short arse strikers who don't want to play in that style. As proven in Cov's first goal against Birmingham if we work the ball wide and on the floor, with movement from the strikers we can score goals. I dont like to single out individual players but today I will. Chris Hussey who I believed was a half decent championship player has lost all confidence on the ball and became a culprit of playing these pathetic diagonal long balls that most of the time come to nothing and today he showed a complete lack of quality. With the fans getting more agitated as the game wore on with City looking completely clueless, they began to vent their anger towards the players. Now I dont know what exactly was said to Kevin Kilbane but I can only imagine it would have been someone complimenting him on his dyer performance began to argue back with the fans. Now as club captain and a veteran of English football I believe he had no right to turn around and react to a fan who has paid their money that pays his wages and been supporting the club longer than he has been playing for it, showing a complete lack of respect and professionalism. At the end of the game, after watching City concede a sloppy goal, create one half chance and play with an overall shortage of passion, enthusiasm and quality, fans began to chant 'Youre not fit to wear the shirt' which I believe couldnt be anymore true.

I believe Shaw has blown his chance, showing he is not the man to lead us through a long season of tough games. I think we need a manager who is able to come in with a plan of how we should play, someone that isnt scared to take a few players down a peg or two and get rid of these ego's some of them possess. They are League One players for a reason and they need to be treated like League One players if they want to get anywhere. After todays performance we need someone that would give them a right going over and none of this 'arm round the shoulder' which I dont believe Shaw has in him. We need a manager with experience who's done promotion before but not someone thats just done it once like another Micky Adams or Iain Dowie.

The decision the board face in the next week or so is crucial for the future of this club as theyve got it wrong too many times before and look at us now. Personally, I feel this club has lacked a sense of familiarity, with the players and managers door ever revolving, for some time. That is why I would like to see someone with an affiliation with the club who will bring passion for the job and a love for the city as well experience in this league. The man I feel that could fill that role is Coventry born, Carlisle manager Greg Abbott. Time will tell what the board will do but I just hope they make the right decision to get this club back where we want it.

I also agree with Abbott...knows this league and has led Carlisle to the edge of the play offs for a couple of years now.

We have only beaten Crewe once in Nine matches at their place.

Shocking that.

I hate to say it, could this be the start of a losing streak away like last season. Early shocking performances last season led to that dire run!

I think this is different to Sutton etc, they were cup upsets that happen to everyone. The reason I question this being the lowest moment is because we have a team that doesnt know how to play football, no manager, owners we dont want, fans booing, players arguing with fans and in a division we havent been in for 50 odd years.

Putting it like that you may have a point!

Don't forget Northampton away or Charlton at home which, for me, was the beginning of the end of the glory days!

Christ, you just mentioned that Charlton game, I had erased it from my memory. I think you are right suggesting that was the beginning of the end !

Today's result puts us in our lowest league position in the 'modern era' which is basically when colour tv started c 1970!

Humiliation complete. Thank you SISU, players and management of CCFC

Shhhhh, you can't slag off the owners.

Yes you can, Valiant. But if you do, be prepared to be called an ungrateful moron who doesn't understand what a great job Joy and her pet poodle Tim are doing for our club.

Can we stick with King Lynn, because that was the catalyst for Jimmy Hill coming in and you all know that bit of history.

The reason we were so por is simple - we have just suffered the worst manager in the history of the club, whilst still having the worst owners! When you had a manager who bemoans limited funds yet with those limited funds bought 2 goalies when even he admitted we needed a striker - then was the time to get rid!

Why wait till he brought in 9 new players? Why bring in 2 strikers who between them got 6 goals last season! Why build a squad around hoofball, yet have short strikers! Why continue to play a formation that amassed 1 away win all seaoson?

Its all well and good showing solidarity with your old boss RS, but there was a reason AT got sacked! Keep faith with AT and you will join him in the job queue.

Your stats for milwall are not much better than ATs so it begs the question why was he brought in the first place?

There ARE managers out there up to the job, sadly there are no real football people at Cov at the mo, so they have very little chance of finding them. Only new owners that know what they are doing can turnthis club around. If SISU thought just getting rid of AT would bring the fans onside - they were sadly mistaken!

I suppose we will only see if it is our lowest point come the end of the season.

Just to point out the lowest we have ever finished in this division was 20th, lets hope we do better than that this time!
