12lb gone since New Year’s Day. I’m doing dry January and it’s made a massive difference to my weight.

Girlfriend started Slimming World in November. Which means I've also now started slimming world by proxy, minus going to the meetings. It's been going well, we've both lost over a stone, but I am struggling a bit. We've cut out pretty much all carbs at breakfast and lunch but it means my energy levels are seriously flagging post-lunch and I'm hungry all the bleeding time. It's a struggle every day to resist popping into the shops after work for a quick snack haha.

My mum brought a treadmill on a whim, and it’s been a great investment. It’s easy to talk yourself out of walking to a gym/going on a run, but with a treadmill in the living room (temporarily), there’s no excuse not go on it!

Also trying intermittent fasting, usually between 12-14hrs, maybe going up to 16-18hrs on the weekends (mainly because I’m asleep for longer).

Hoping to get under 100-105kg this year, that’s between 15.7-16.5 stone for those you use old currency.

Looking forward to hearing about everyone’s progress!

The theory is that you should never be hungry on the Slimming World Plan. Try taking some boiled eggs or lean meat to work for snacking.

I used to do my own version of intermitent fasting to help make boxing weight but doing the 16.8 one now along with dry January and the results from it are great!

You're probably best staying at home and doing some body weight exercises. Do you have a chin up bar?

That's one thing you can't get at home unless you're loaded and have lots of space.

Giving your muscles a few weeks break won't do them any harm. Lots of experts advise on extended periods of rest.

Yeah will be some muscle deteriation tho. And weeks of having doms again after prolonged break

We shall see. Decisons to be made

I have asthma so should be careful i guess but feel healthy getting in shape. Conundrum!

Its not same. Most dumbell sets wont go as heavy as at gym and also need bench and squat rack too. Would be waste of money

It’s not the same but it is still beneficial if you are going to be out of the gym for 3 months and better than body weight exercises. Get a set for about £30 and you can YouTube some good workouts, without being an expert I watch a lot of experts and you can use different techniques to overload the muscles and also slightly vary body position/exercise execution to make it mechanically more challenging.

Get yourself a chin up bar in the meantime, I used to have one in the lounge doorway and would probably smash about 500 a day

what's the corona etiquette here? Stay away from the gym or go?
Was thinking of going tonight but I've heard people say you should leave it for the greater good.

You'd like to think so... However in the unlikely event we went as drastic as Spain/France, I'm pretty sure they are not allowed to go out running...

can't run at the moment. Sprained my ankle playing 5 a side a few weeks ago. They said there was a small line on the x ray which may be a minor fracture but because of the swelling they couldn't be sure though they didn't think there was and to come back if it was playing up in a few days. It started to get better so I didn't bother but it's still painful (not hugely painful though) when I run.
Did ten minutes on a treadmill last week and it wasn't too bad but ran across the road last night and it was too much on the hard pavement.

Think I need to get it x rayed again but not even going to attempt it at the moment. Would a physio be able to tell if there is a crack there?

Any one got any tips for working out in the house bearing in mind I have no equipment whatsoever?

Lee Stuart, an ex-marine, who runs Go Commando Bootcamp in Coventry and Leamington has effectively had to shut down his business this week due to not being able to run sessions with groups of people.

However, he has decided that he and his colleague Sophie are going to run FREE for all body weight sessions (basically no equipment needed) every day for 20-25 minutes at 06:30am and 18:30pm. Also, his partner Holly will be offering both nutritional advice as well as advice on health and well-being.

You just need to join the group here:

RapidFit - Health, Wellness and Personal Development. public group | Facebook

And the sessions will be live-streamed each day.

A great initiative and if you need that encouragement of someone telling you what to do and when to do it then I recommend giving it a go.

Is that the only doing eating during 8 hour windows? What's the calorie limit?

Given the start to the year I've not bothered much with any healthy eating or exercise, not got much motivation but actually feel like running outside again due to the enforced nature of staying at home.

That’s the one mate and there’s no calorie limit but I’ve been watching what I eat but not depriving myself and have lost around 7kg since January.

Any body else expect this Corona virus to carry on for months?

Going to order myself a spin bike to maintain fitness levels while sat around the house. Would love to get out running again but my knees just can't take it.

Yeah this is going to last another 2-3 months at least. Look at china, patient zero was traced back to 17th November.

Went for a run yesterday.
First time on the pavement for ages. So much harder than a treadmill!
