I just forsee alot more bickering,

sisu say ACL have been paid now they should talk, backed by the same group as normal. ACL say nothing or reiterate they won't talk till the JR dropped. We bicker and argue, the same people on the same sides of the same argument and we are no further along, it would be great to say I won't contribute but unfortunately I always seem to.

Logic suggests that if the above 99% is correct then 1% are telling the truth then there have been 6,570 truthful posts since SBT started (657,034 x 1%) - quite a big number me thanks !!!

Come on now, lads. Nostalgia is a thing of the past!

(But then, I've got just under a thousand old photos of Cov and Cov pubs - old and new. Anybody interested in seeing any, let me know and I'll see what I can do!)

Top Spot?

Ha ha!

Even way back when, the good night clubs were about a fiver to get in to. Top Spot was 50p.

The owners used to leave stainless steel bowls of water on the floor just outside on the pavement so the girls could go and get themselves a drink if thirsty.

I am not in Coventry often. But when I was last there I travelled by bus and was disappointed to see that the Coventry Theatre has gone. Not news to most of you I guess. Someone mentioned Poster Place. I used to buy badges there back in the 70s. 999, The Clash, The Cure...

Three very top bands there mrtrench.

It was a shame when the Cov Theatre went, but it has to be said, the Transport Museum is top notch and something the city should be very proud of.

We used to come across from Rugby on the train just to go to the Poster Place. Was there also somewhere called the Pop Shop?

Don't remember that Tony, but I think just about every teenager in Coventry went to Poster Place at one time or another.

Happy memories.

I'm buying the swimming pool. In the first season I plan to sell the two fast lanes. Stop paying the tuck shop lady over disputed F&B profits. Sue the council for having a corporation bus stop in what I believe to be the directors car park. Then relocate the water to.......

Yeah, I went there a lot at the end of the 70's and into the early 80's. Saw a few bands at Cov Theatre.

Saw some great bands there, Torch.

It was a great venue for live concerts.

I've got a series of original postcards with pictures of various old city streets on them. I've seen the same pictures online, so I guess they must be fairly common.

Did begin to wonder why the Coventry Theatre closed down.

The answer I think is in this picture.

Rod Hull and Emu, Cannon and Ball and Barbara Dickson.

I also have a photo of just about every pub in cov (still standing or not!). There may be one or two missing. Again, if there's anything folk want to see, let me know.

Nice pics there Houch.

I feel I've missed out on so much on Cov's night life. I was born in Cov but parents split up when I was 12, both moved away. Didn't start going to HR proper until mid 80s when I got married and moved closer to "home"... had too many responsibilities by then to go on the lash lol.
