Look after Woolfy (1 Viewer)

We’ve seen our back to back promotions team dismantled over the summer. Morsy leaving was tough to take but realistically it was the right time for him and Ipswich. The news that Luke Woolfenden is going though is the toughest to take of them all. I rate him as highly as either of the current centre backs who we’ve paid £15m-£20m for (O’Shea and Greaves). Rarely let us down, outstanding in many games, he’s strong, reads the game well , committed with a great attitude and excellent with the ball at his feet. You’ve got a good one - our loss, your gain.

If you had to compare him to another player in terms of similarity who would you say our of curiosity?

Maldini?...

I know his passing game is superb and hes supposed to be cool as cucumber .. but is he good defensively and in the air . fans probably want an upgrade on what we have .

Thanks for your words , all the best

Most of your fans are saying this but a few on here have decided he's shit for some reason.

I don’t know enough about what you have to assess that but I rate him very highly. Harshly treated by the club in my view, a first team regular during our back to back promotions and then given very few opportunities last season. I wouldn’t have swapped him for any centre back in the league when we got promoted in 23/24.

Tbf kithcing has some great deep passes but it would be nice to have a elegant passer bringing ball out with more consistency

Thomas is a lottery sometimes with basic passes so I think this guy may offer something noticeably different in that respect

I get the feeling that McKenna inherited something pretty good and doesn't know how to recreate it

Not quite but honestly for £4m (only just read what the fee is) you’ve got one of the signings of the season. I know it’s a lot of money but based on the huge amounts of money we’ve spent/wasted in the past year or so, double that would have been a fairer price.
What's your opinion on signing Nunez from your hated rivals ? Is it a case of 'snigger, snigger' or 'he cant be any good as hes from Naaarrridge'

He’s potentially a very good signing. The fact he’s joined from them definitely added something but in a positive way. Fans aren’t daft, he’s a Chilean over here to make his money. He’s come to us because we’re paying him more and he’s got a better chance of getting to the Premier League with us than them. It’s been good watching them get so wound up by it though!

We’ve got enough bedwetters of our own without needing other clubs sending their pissiest pantsed fans here embarrassing themselves with this kind of drivel.

Yeah sure, we’ll look after him… Whatever that means when fans say that…

Fair point. It’s a crap way of putting it. What I meant is he’s a local lad and other than time on loan has always been a Town player. I’m guessing it might take him a while to adjust so be patient if he needs it, support him and I’m sure he’ll become a favourite just as he is at Ipswich. Too often fans seem to write a player off before they’ve even played or make their mind up after one game (i admit I’ve done that with McAteer who we have just signed from Leicester, waste of £12m!). He’s not a shy lad and doesn’t seem to lack confidence but give him time to settle if needs it. Gutted he’s leaving.

Just had a look on TWTD and some rather mixed opinions on Woolfy joining us. The fact that he's a born and bred Ipswich lad made him a bit of a hero. Others made comments on the fact he has poor pace and somebody said he is L1 standard. I get the overall impression that most didnt want to see him leave.

He’s not lightning quick but he isn’t slow and reads the game well so is rarely caught out for pace. To say he’s league one standard is laughable. He was pretty much an ever present in the team that went up in 23/24.

I don’t know any Ipswich fans who want him to leave.

I remember Ipswich away in the season they went up. Their goalkeeper and defence passed the ball around us like we were children. I assume 'Woolfy' was one of them

In fairness Mr Bean in goal with Stan & Ollie at CBs could make our goalie and defence look like children
