I don’t quite agree with your point there. There are many players who are surplus to requirements at a club who they deem would have value to somebody else but not them. If you have been paying somebody a wage for however long then if there is an opportunity to recoup some cost wouldn’t you take it if there was an opportunity to do so if another club believed that player was of value to them but was under contract?

Even when taking somebody on loan there is a fee so why wouldn’t you ask for a fee if somebody wants to sign someone permanently?
