Why would the club publicly turn down Spurs and then take a last minute deal from Norwich for reportedly less than being offered by Spurs? There's only 2 possibilities.
1. We have been offered a lot more money than Spurs ... or
2. Norwich offered us something else that no other club could
Spurs offer us 5m+, we say lets talk at the end of the season and include a loan-back deal.
So, what if Norwich to steal a prospect from under the nose of some big PL clubs offered us a guaranteed season-long loan back next year to jump the gun, regardless which league we are in. Surely the guarantee of him being with us next year would be worth pushing through a last minute deal?
Would still be good business for Norwich as they get a highly rated player from under the noses of a club they wouldn't have otherwise been able to compete with in a head to head situation.
Couple that with a nice sell-on clause and is that the only situation that is win-win for the club and also keeps TM happy....
It's the sell-on clause which would have swayed it.
As I said on an other thread, a massive sell on percentage for a player like him may have swayed it.
