To be fair yesterday was just a bit of a freak accident from a defensive pov.

The free kick was imo quite good on reflection and caught us unaware. The penalty was just a silly error and then Thomas should of cleared the ball on the third.

The fact we haven’t really conceded once from open play is a major positive from last year (counting the third as a second phase of a set piece).

We do look better than last year it’s just when you play the 3-1-6 in possession, your always going to be vulnerable on the counter

My problem with Torp. He’s screaming, pointing and getting stroppy with his teammates for not covering positions he should be picking up and tracking back himself.

He worked his arse off yesterday, second half I remember him sprinting back 50 yards to help MvE out. Definitely upped this part of his game. Lampard has turned him into a far more complete midfielder

I can imagine us having more joy away from home if teams are more likely to be baited into not sitting in front of us. The game seemed very open yesterday, more space for players to run in behind and it played in our favour.

Their first goal was a freakish goal, the penalty came off the back of a long shot that wasn’t that troublesome and the third was the best chance they created all match. Had we gone 2 goals up, I believe we would’ve routed Derby by 3 or 4 goals.

A bit of context, last week Hull had 3 less shots in total and 1 less shot on target than Derby and the narrative was that we shut out Hull completely.

Likewise, we had a similar amount of shots this week and last so we’ve been quite consistent in the league.

Agree he worked hard, but he was flapping his arms several times at BTA and MvE for not dropping inside to pick up a man he should have been with anyway. Obviously people like to turn a blind eye with particular players.

He's improving all the time, so yes, he's not the finished article but he's getting better and better.

These type of games happen.

Looking at FotMob, Derby’s xG was 1.48 and the only ‘good chance’ they created was for their 3rd goal. The penalty alone accounted for over half their xG.

Anyone getting carried away with the headline of 3 goals conceded either wasn’t at the game or looked at the stats. Lampard seemed to brush this off yesterday in his post-game comments.

Putting aside the defensive performance for a moment, as a captain I thought he was the best since Doyle. In your face, fierce and hungry. I think most agree that Sheaf shouldn’t have the armband anymore, but I would choose Kitching over Grimes to replace (even if that competitiveness causes the odd red card).

Agree with Tommo on Torp. Acknowledge he’s improved though. Needs to maintain it. In terms of Kitching he’s adding in that forward carry to his game to better effect and defensively he’s our best player. Especially considering he has to cover a non existent left back a lot of the time.

For me, yesterday was Torp's best 90 minutes in a Cov shirt. Not much to fault in that display. I hope he can do it consistently now. Looked the player I was hoping to see last season. In fairness to him his form was starting to look better in the later stages of last season before his injury.

Well if you watch you will see the player who scored from the freekick actually picked up the foam blob and moved it 3ft closer about 3ft in towards the pitch so that he could get the angle. The Referee made him move it before he let them take the kick and that twat of a referee moved it to an even better angle. Effing linos are shite and picking up money for old rope if you ask me.
