Let's put things into perspective (4 Viewers)

We all know AT is working on very limited funds and a very limited squad. Some people think he should be doing a better job though.

Who else do you think would be better under our circumstances? We could have an ex England manager. The brolley man is available. He had a much better squad on paper. How is Sven doing, considering he must have spent at least 10m by now. They are only 2 points off the playoffs, but only 6 points ahead of us. Not bad hey,about 2m spent for each point ahead of us :thinking about:At least they are more experienced than AT. Where would we be if AT had even only half this amount?

Makes me wonder how far AT can go with a bit more experience and a couple of quid to spend.

Who would you want who you think would be better than AT under the same circumstances and why? Are you happy with AT at the moment? What could he realistically do with the squad he has to improve things? Could he do anything?

As some of you may have guessed, I think he is doing a decent job considering the tools he has available. I think we need stability. Why get rid just for the sake of it. He would be the person I would give money to for new players. He is a proven scout. He should know what sort of players he needs. That is unless he as crap a manager as a few on here think.

On the basis of the tools he has been given so far it's almost impossible to determine if his management skills are strong, weak or somewhere in that wide spectrum in between. It's not fair for us to judge as he has had pretty much no resource at his disposal and inherited a weak overpaid underperforming squad of players who were not his own and some of the best ones have moved on. Definitely a work in progress but couldn't possibly praise or criticise on what we've seen so far.

he's been lacking in some areas, Plan B, substitutions, the "we dont like injury time" comment etc, but he has been severly lacking in one thing, SUPPORT from his bosses.

Is he the next Alex Ferguson, na, but is he the next Peter Reid, na, as well.

He COULD do well with support, but it does look like its never going to come.

Like it or not, he wont be here at the end of the season, they never are !

Depends on who's allegedly taking us over ,but i fear you're right,and it will achieve nothing ,the biggest enemy for our club ,after not owning the ground have been poor appointments ,followed by annual sackings and instability,who will ever be brave enough too see it through

Based on that very same lack of resources Rob, that is why I'd say he's done a good job so far. I think we can all agree that he's working on a smaller budget than any of the previous 3 or 4 managers, yet we're in about the same position.

The other thing I judge him on is what he says. He seems to see the game almost always exactly the same as me and my mates-and we've not known that feeling with a City manager since Black. "What on earth is he going on about?!" being the usual response to an utterance by a CCFC gaffer. I haven't thought that with AT once.

So in short, no, I don't think I'd swap him for anyone.

i think Thorns done a great job so far considering the cirumstances.

last season he took over the reigns of a side in freefall having won 1 in 17 and playing the worst football id ever seen in my 30 years of supporting ccfc.

Within 1 game he had got us playing good attractive passing football which was a terrific feat, i remember going Burnley away last season and we played them off the park and we looked a totally diffrent team to the 1 that had played the previous weekend and not had a shot at goal at home v Hull.

Thorn helped keep us up quite easily in the end and we played some good stuff last 10 games of the season and it looked quite rosy for this season as long as we could keep hold of King and Gunnar and brought 1 or 2 players in to improve things.

so in typical ccfc fashion we dont keep King and Gunnar and we dont sign any outfield players so our squad is then massively weakend and we have to start relying on inexpirenced kids to help us out of a mess created by sisu, 90% of our fans expected relegation this season, myself included so for us to be sitting where we are currently in the league tells me that thorn is still doing a good job managing our football club, it is his 1st managerial job dont forget so he is having to learn very quickly and will make mistakes.

If thorn keeps us up this season the man will deserve a medal and the freedom of the city!

In Thorn we trust.

I agree NonLeague, Thorn tells it like it is, with none of this lets throw a few footy cliches/gags in and make out I know what I'm talking about drivel, i.e. Coleman and Boothroyd.

I don't like using injuries as an excuse, but we have missed some key players, i.e the returning Deegan and Wood, which with a squad so un-experienced it is asking a lot.

But to answer the original question, Thorn is definitely the man for the job, he has improved the style of play and gets the best out of his players. undefeated in 5 games at home, turn a few of them draws into wins and we will survive this division.

either way, this is CCFC, he will be gone in 8 months at the most and we will be talking about someone else.

They dont tend to last too long round these parts..

Andy Thorn is doing a great job in my opinion, he has had no resources whatsoever, injuries left right and centre, arguably our best 3 players left and no replacements. I for one hope he remains as manager for a long time to come.

I think he is doing a great job given the circumstances at the club in general.
Lets not under estimate our squad though. It is not that bad tbh.
His management skills are a test of him not how he battles the clubs troubles.
As I mentioned before...a long way to go but rather mre pleasing to see a steady improvement than a big rush and a big flop!

Steady to grow i like Paxman ,we've had the other, every season in this stadium,by the way ,did Jimmy Hill have any managerial experience prior to us ,Don't think so,Just feel this guys going to be really lucky for our club ,cause he deserves it.
