The likes of Bidwell, Allen and Wilson are the ones who've been here for some time though. Theres only really Simms/BTA and Bassete who are fairly new signings that I'd want to move onIt’s difficult to address though unless you find buyers for the players who were poor signings and need moving on
Even watching palmer come on. In 5 minutes he’d taken a shot from distance and played a through ball which was cut out.
People will say yeah, neither worked. But when we’re trying to unlock a defence, I want a player that’s prepared to try the 10%’ers rather than the 90%’ers.
So bored of grimes, torp, sheaf, allen getting it and knowing the only ball you’ll see is a spread to the wing.

BTA apparently had suitors in January, maybe he still does. Simms however I think King would need to accept a fair loss on him to move him on, which isn't necessarily the end of the world. Not sure who would make an acceptable offer even under those circumstances thoughBidwell Allen and Wilson are just back up players. The other 3 have cost money and simms high wages. You can’t do much while they are still here. I assume MVE will go but we can’t keep signing forwards when the others are still hanging around.
The way we play would seem to suit a big lump of a centre forward just playing in the box. Simms should be that player, but isn't.It’s fair but my worry is if any striker will cut it when we’re slow and predictable with our build up play.
I disagree.I don’t think our personnel leaves FL many options in terms of formation tbf. I think we’ll see a lot of games like today where we have control and possession whilst being a bit toothless.
I just wish we had a player that could take someone on in the middle of the park and go past them. Our only threat is from width, crossing in for a Rudoni late run into the box. That’s almost the only way I see us scoring.
All our midfielders are possession players. I’d love to have a risk taker.
I think I was expecting a better performance than one were looked to have all the momentum bunch of OAP's.
So he's gone from a candidate for championship manager of the season, to candidate for the sack in 1 game???No I’m NOT calling for his replacement already but…questions need to be asked.
The quite ridiculous sticking to a rigid tactical formation (without changing to another) that clearly wasn’t doing anything against a Hull side clearly there for the taking.
Lack of a pressing system that FL said that he himself would like to adopt. High press and attacking football I think he said-which we have only seen fleetingly.
Leaving a striker on the bench and bringing on a left back as a winger when we clearly need a goal. In fact bringing on a clearly unfit striker in a central role we all know he clearly can’t do and bringing off the one player who looked like he could create something was baffling.
Not advocating anything rash but FL has the whole of the summer to address the tactical side and thinking of alternatives if one system doesn’t work.
Same old ponderous slow build up bollocks-is it the players or the system?
Playing Hull was a perfect opportunity to be a bit more risky and try something different.
I’ve not mentioned recruitment deliberately as that out of FL’s hands. But we clearly need some pace and creativity in this team.
Positives-we didn’t look like conceding and the goalie was bloody brilliant.
Just trying to stimulate some discussion NOT calling for Franks replacement or wetting the bed!
Thoughts?

Oh no, nothing has changed from last year.
We’re going to finish 5th again, how awful.
Some of you are pathetic at times

A game we didn't even lose!
Ffs, even for fickle footy fans. this is bizare!
Sunderland would have been out had Wright converted a header from a cross in the last minute. Both of our goals across the two games came from crosses.Lampard is obsessed with crosses and throws into the box. He has no plan B or midfield that can break a team down running at defenders. Other teams have worked him out like Sunderland did in the second leg. We need a midfield playmaker like dare I say Ohare who can create chances for our front men instead of the slow ponderous play to get it out to the wing for then a pointless cross to one up front whos marked by two 7’ giants
anyone else miss the fast attacking play from three seasons a go that disappeared once Hamer and Ohare went ?
instead we not have a midfield of Sammy sideways Clingan and forward line who is better at wearing a fake bandage than scoring
He's somewhat limited with the strikers he has available, ie Simms and BTA, he can't bring another striker in while we are paying £100k a week to Simms and the (unfit) Wright.Really?
My post says nothing about sacking Frank.
Just surprised at the lack of alternative tactical option and reluctance to bring on Simms.
Surprising because he’s had the whole of the summer to come up with alternatives especially when faced with yet another team that clearly game to the CBS to defend.
More of a critique rather than criticism.

The only other option is to play 2 uptop, (Simms and BTA together) but that would mean having less possession in midfield.
Looking at the stats we had enough chances to of scored at least 1 goal, but weren't clinical enough when it mattered.
I meant £100k a month (each)We are not paying 100 k a week to Wright and Simms.

I'd say hitting the woodwork is a fairly big chanceWe had 0 big chances to Hulls 1 and only 0.87 xG. 0-0 was the right result.

That wasn't a chance as the flag was already up.The only big chance all game was the 1 on 1 Rushworth saved.
Either way, it was a decent start imo. Think Hull have been done a disservice and think that they’ll be comfortable this season.OK either I’m going mad or Footmob updates their stats after the game cos I swear that’s what I read but now it says the same thing
18 shots on goal should be enough to score at least 1.
It definitely did have us with zero immediately after the game with xG <1. I guess there is some sort of moderation process.OK either I’m going mad or Footmob updates their stats after the game cos I swear that’s what I read but now it says the same thing
That’s why I joined SBT, I didn’t want to feel left outI read into that you are clueless.
This is why I always have a look a couple of days after the fact.It definitely did have us with zero immediately after the game with xG <1. I guess there is some sort of moderation process.
We’re not paying both of them the same money, and we know haji is on 25k a week as he was the clubs top earner and Grimes joined on the same.I meant £100k a month (each)
I couldn’t see him leaving for another Championship club and we’d need to have a very successful season for a PL club to consider him, IMO.Talk of sacking Frank is madness and I think we will be fine this season, but at the same time I think people are discounting the possibility that he won’t be themanagerhead coach this time next season.
To be clear, I think the most likely reason for him to leave this season is because expectations are very high and he might not meet them. As a fanbase we’re just not used to how quickly/often most teams in this division decide to change the manager.I couldn’t see him leaving for another Championship club and we’d need to have a very successful season for a PL club to consider him, IMO.
If expectations are that high we need to splash the cash a bit more this window then!To be clear, I think the most likely reason for him to leave this season is because expectations are very high and he might not meet them.
