Steven Pressley: Leon Clarke struggling to be fit for Coventry against colchester

COVENTRY City striker Leon Clarke is struggling to be fit for Tuesday night’s Ricoh Arena clash with relegation battling Colchester United.

Despite the player being upbeat about the injury to his right ankle after scoring the winning goal at Sc-unithorpe on Saturday, manager Steven Pressley said: “He’s going to be a major doubt for tomorrow’s game, he really is.

“The big chap played at the weekend but he’s been in a lot of pain and I am grateful that he did play on Saturday because there was a major doubt of him playing then.

“Again, tomorrow night, I‘ll be honest with you that it is very unlikely that he’ll feature. He’s been playing for a number of weeks now with a problem but he’s managed to get through it, but he’s really struggling for Tuesday night.”

Cody McDonald is the most likely replacement to lead the Sky Blues attack against the U's.

I have no idea how long this injury is going to be on him but I hope it hurry's up and fixes because we need our top scorer back. This is Mcdonald's chance to show us what he can do so let's hope he plays well tonight :)
