Chelsea move towards appointing Leicester boss Enzo Maresca

SAMI MOKBEL AND KIERAN GILL: Mail Sport reported on Thursday that Chelsea had begun the process of holding formal interviews with candidates, with Maresca (centre) now the frontrunner.
www.dailymail.co.uk

“Chelsea called the Ipswich head coach last night as a courtesy and out of respect to let him know that he had been close to reaching the final stage of their search, but hadn't made it.”

Ive always wondered what the interview process is for football managers. Do they have to lead a session or have a panel with the players or something?

I wonder if they're advised to use the STAR method?

The reason they don't fine them, is by breaching the rules they have gained a sporting advantage through overspending on wages and or transfers. The clubs voted to have points deducted because it is a sporting punishment.

I think Forest gambled that they could live with the points deducted. Assuming that, having spent so much they would be clear of the prelegation threat?

What fans forget is these are the rules the Premier League Clubs imposed on themselves.

They are manky smelly disease ridden disgusting creatures that most people find deeply irritating, but some mad people inexblixably seem to pity them and feed scraps. Their hair falls out in clumps and they leave their infections and rubbish strewn everywhere. They shite in the streets and other peoples gardens and their ear shattering screams are incredibly irritating. They reproduce at disgusting rates in derelict places like car parks and behind the bin stores often with their own family!
They are wild rural creatures who have no place living in Cities and civilised places!!!
Don't get me started on foxes either.

I remember the club telling us how impressed they were with Dowie as a forward thinking manager because he got his laptop out and did a PowerPoint presentation . Would love to have seen it.

Still not enough, but with Maresca going, Vardy past his sell by date and hopefully a transfer embargo it should still be a fun watch

We finished fifth in 2019/20 so we should take Man City to court over their PSR breaches- which stopped us gaining a CL spot. Game has had i.

See you in two years

looking at past cases they will halve it, it seems harsh to me when Everton are repeat offenders yet don’t seem to have been punished that much.

We’ll leap frog them next season as we’ll go up and they’ll go down, if 15 points is correct there is no way they’re gonna stay up

That would be funny, maybe then we would have to put up with the six fingered typing on here.
Does make me laugh though they don’t see us a a bigger club but spend hours on here

Enzo Maresca is obsessed with total domination – just like his mentor

Likely new Chelsea manager takes his cue from Pep Guardiola but with only one season as main man the Italian will be under huge scrutiny
www.telegraph.co.uk
And what of Leicester?

They are facing a difficult summer with the prospect of a points deduction for breaching financial rules. Sources have estimated that the punishment could be anything between six to 15 points.
With Maresca likely to leave this week, they will have time to properly recruit a replacement. Contenders such as Graham Potter, the former Chelsea manager, and West Brom’s Carlos Corberan are likely to come into the mix.
Will be well funny if Leicester nick Corberan, weakening WBA, only to get a 15 point deduction and sink without trace.

Win win for us.

Who was it kept coming on here every week saying mind the gap? If they do get 15 then it will be ‘mind the void’ can’t see it being that big 6 at most which is not really a punishment, only 2 wins….. ah maybe

I may be hallucinating, but I recall a snippet on a mailing list about Dowie's penchant for producing custom powerpoints for every team he pitched himself to. And each one had like a punny title based on the club's name / crest etc.

Gosh I wish I could find where I got that from...

Can’t believe Chelsea have given Maresca a 5 year deal. Don’t have to be Nostradamus to predict a massive early payout in his future.

Being a disciple of Pep is a guaranteed route to a big job.

I thought we'd have a least a couple of months off from the wankers coming on here, but seems like we're NOT actually the ones who are obsessed!!

Between some of their fans (Joseph Holts is a prime example) and now Burnley persistently using our hashtag on Twitter, they seem to be the most obsessed at trying to wind us up.

Problem is that they keep making themselves look stupid in doing so.

And they say we're the ones with the obsession

Standard operating practise for #PUSB on that app: mock 'em and block 'em.

Let them have their fun. All they have to look forward to next season are points deductions and weekly batterings.

No he came on in the week leading up to the home fixture - and fair play, he stayed on to offer (begrudgingly) congrats and to soak up the abuse.

11 points is Derbys record low...

can you see Leicester getting 26 points?! Not sure i can

Wouldnt care less if its due to a points deduction, would love them to have the record as being the worst team ever in the PL

The points deduction (when it is announced) could disappoint many of us. The PL seem to struggle with really tough sanctions. Especially once a club employs some expensive “silver tongue” barrister.

I also expect any club sanctioned to appeal and try to “cut a deal”.

On the plus side a wedge of Leicester PL money will be spent on legal costs, unless they’ve insured against this scenario.
