Made his debut for Sunderland on Tuesday and the Sunderland fans are creaming themselves over him stating he should now be first choice.
Lee Burge
comments like

His assertiveness at commanding his box and collecting crosses is refreshing to see. Needs to work on distribution but definitely our number 1 keeper. Remember when our keepers were Steele and Camp ffs

Got a monster of a kick on him.

Is this the same Lee Burge who couldnt kick a donkeys arse or collect a cross the same person !!!

Own up who’s his mate

Was highly rated by my Coventry-supporting friends.
Not happy when he left.
Not as unhappy as they were when Willis left !
Healthy competition is a good thing; he's got the #1, its up to JMcL to get it back (if he can).

Leave them to it. We have a far better keeper now. The people who were desperate for him to be seen as good would laud him for making a half decent performance because the expectation was that he wouldn't be good. Like when your toddler stops wearing Nappies and manages to not piss the bed. Burge will never not piss the bed once a week though. Christ how did I end up here.

Time to move on lads as some of the above posters are saying - derision of a former player is perhaps sometimes warranted if the player didn't give 100% or thought he was too good for us.

But this continued derision of a lad who came through our youth system and always did his best is making us look pretty classless at this point.

Just my view - not trying to offend anyone.

Yep. Time to leave it now. Although I admit I'll have a giggle if and when he makes an error.

We've surely had more clean sheets than when that cretin was playing?

I think I'm in a minority on this one Hill. I actually like to see our ex-players doing well. Particularly ex-youth and those who always gave 100% for the badge. Fully realise it's not a fashionable view!

So do I within reason. But I'm fully invested in this internet Sunderland/Coventry battle now and there's no going back.

If you believe that Maddison didn't give 100% when he returned on loan - I think it is certainly justifiable to be a critic of Maddison on that basis. I didn't see much of the season when Maddison came back on loan so can't really comment on that to be honest but you are certainly not the only one to make the point that his heart didn't seem to be in it.

From my perspective, I'm proud that such a high quality player is associated with our youth system.

I've never really got the ex-player thing to be honest - and anyway I have far too many political hate figures right now (particularly the clown running the country and his cronies) to make room for any more!

Ha! I was referring to UK political leadership. Probably best for me not to comment on political leadership in my country of residence for various reasons!

One of the threads we had when Burge was with us I stated that premiership teams and championship teams were watching him at the time - fans laughed this off - still think he will play at a higher level with the right team and the right coaching -

I hope he and Willis do well for them, but mostly in the sense that they both play incredibly well to only keep their defeat down to one or two goals each week

Sure Rummermill. I'm currently in New York as it happens but I live in the Middle East.

In terms of politics, I hate Boris Johnson and his cronies (but I think that's for another thread!).

2nd save was a bit Hollywood-he made the most of it! Remember thinking that from behind the goal at the time.
