Burge will be the senior keeper though, that's what is random about having the 3.

You're assuming that RCC is staying. The window hasn't opened yet, plenty of time for that to change yet.

Praise the fooking lord that RCC must surely be leaving?

I think both goalkeepers are pretty good certainly at this level and this new lad seems no different to them. We are league 2 remember they are going to have faults and if our keepers worst attribute is his kicking then I'm happy with that!

Surely you can't be a keeper if you can't catch or kick?

Strange one, I guess RCC will either be loaned out somewhere or he's got a transfer elsewhere lined up.

Or Robins think's RCC can do a job up as a striker?

Clearly he can kick and catch -hence being a professional footballer!
Yes he does have off days - as every other footballer does, but we are in League 2, what sort of calibre do you expect??

I won't be to annoyed if O'Brien is going to be number one but I can't take another season of Burge in net. Every time the ball goes into the box you fear the worst as he either catches it or fumbles it to their striker. Need someone who is a consistent 7/10 like Murphy was. Doesn't need to be special but just needs to be able to do the basics(which Burge can't do most of the time)

that's an exaggeration. I have been a critic of his but he's definitely been better since the arrival of Robins.

I'm going to take next season as a fresh slate. Burge did improve so will see what it's like in League 2 and now under Robins.

Early on his kicking was literally 5 or 6 kicks out of play every game and did get better.

Will see.

Well there it is, 6 new signings and 2 extended before the first bad one.
Only another 8 signings to go before the next dud I hope!

RCC has to be on his way, or if he wasn't I'd be calling MR to see about leaving.
O'Brien must fancy his chances and given certain assurances of a far crack for the position of being 1st choice or why would he sign to be a bench warmer at another league two club for another season.
Burge has to be understudy to O'Brien, surely.... please!

Burge is a good shot stopper but of course there's more to goalkeeping than, but I thought he did okay back end of last season

He has been better but I would prefer a fresh start instead of hanging onto the players that have been a part of our gradual demise.

I'm not sure what all the moaning about. He did OK from when Robins came in. He's not my favourite player by any means but he can do a job.

Can't imagine we're going to have 3 keepers on the books when money is tight. Therefore you have to assume RCC is off and as he's under contract there should be fee involved. Would have preferred to keep him over Burge as I think he has more potential but if we can get a few quid it makes sense.

Is there anyone in our fan base that can offer an opinion on the new keeper based on having seen him play a few games rather than the fact his name isn't Burge or RCC?

Clearly he can drop the ball and kick the ball into touch. He does both most games.

Are you saying that we should put up with below par players now we are in Division 4?

I'm already looking forward to next summer's thread when everyone is bemoaning handing out 2 year contracts and people realise the entire squad who just scraped survival in L2 is here to stay for another year

Robins is building a squad, and keeping a young and improving GK instead of letting him go with little back up I think is a good move. He should give the new lad a go as first choice and have Burge and RCC to provide competition and play in cups comps. Therefore, I think this is a good move

Will Burge be re-signing as number 2 or 3 and will RCC be not making the bench every week.

Maybe I just find it strange to have so much cover for a position.

Why should the new lad been given a go? Surely the manager should make his decision based on what he sees in training and pre season?
It will take one fumble for him to be called shit on here.

Sure Burge had something in his last contract that he could leave if he didn't start a certain number of games as he didn't want to stay to be backup. Can't imagine a couple of seasons down the line he's signed a new contract to sit on the bench.

Especially in the league below as well.

If we keep all 3 Robins needs to be taken in on suspicion of generating counterfeit cash or something.

Joe Hart conceded loads of goals at Torino last season, because he played behind a not-very good defence. He clearly can't play football - at least the way Guardiola wants.
Both Burge and RCC played behind really hopeless defences on many occasions last season, but I think we should all just be thankful that progress is being made and a decent squad is already being built.

Surprised by this one given that none of the keeers will want to be 3rd choice!

but if rcc has to go he has to go. maybe it will be a loan to see if he can fulfill his potential. or maybe its time for him to just go fullstop.

I could keep a clean sheet record with Reda and Ben Turner playing infront of me
