FIFA now allowing domestic leagues to play one game abroad. I guess as a PL team we now have to consider this sort of thing to be affecting us. How would people feel about a 39th game abroad? Personally hate it and think it insults the communities that built the clubs. We’re not franchises.

The Americanisation of a once great sport continues. Absolute cancer.

I'd imagine they is only appetite for the match to be 2 teams from the top 6 at worst.

There was a suggestion at one point that they would just put a gameweek for all to play a game abroad. Not sure if that’s still a consideration.

It would be great if we could play a game at the new Birmingham mega stadium

Should just stick to the pre season “summer series” style, but have groups of 4 teams go to different countries in mini leagues.

Other parts of the world get “Premier League” games, clubs can use it as part of their pre season prep, and the current league season isn’t diminished by it.

Yet more evidence of attempts to completely corrupt the game.

File alongside FIFA removing Ronaldo's suspension shortly after visiting Trump in the White House and recent suggestions to allow Italy to compete at the World Cup in place of Iran to smooth over diplomatic relations. This runs completely contrary to any notion of sporting integrity, and is utterly insulting to the fans.

Can't miss a home or away game, but a one off extra I would be less against, although in the interests of fairness, how do you decide who the extra game is against, especially if it has eg relegation ramifications.

Hopefully they'll just do it in the EFL for Disney v Tom Brady.

It wouldn’t be a 39th game though would it, it would be one of the 38.

Anyway the prem have said they aren’t doing it for now at least and didn’t the Spanish attempt fail? I think we’re safe for a while.

The Spanish attempt failed because FIFA blocked it a local discontent. Now FIFA have opened the door I think it will only be a matter of time

Absolute cancer on the game. Football clubs are meant to represent the city’s or towns they come from. Not just be a brand to show off.

Doubt the football regulator (when they get into place) would allow this thing in the UK and assume the EPL would have enough common sense after the super league not to try either

If we see the Hollywood Superstars at the game on Sunday we could ask them if they can organise a trip to Hollywood to play a game.

I'd imagine (and seriously hope) that there would be significant push-back against this kind of bollocks, as there was with the super-league idea.

No doubt fuckwits like Boehly, who have no regard whatsoever for the traditions and supporters of the game they have bought into, would fight hard for it, though.

Haven't the government made noises about legislating against this kind of thing? Football in Britain (and the rest of Europe) has such deep roots within the communities whose names the clubs bear. It really has to be fought back against.

If people want to watch a European football match, then by all means, visit Europe, or, heaven fucking forfend, support your local teams.

It should be enough that most of these ‘big’ clubs spend the summer going to the US/Far East/Middle East for friendlies.

Let’s not pretend King wouldn’t be all over this if it meant a few extra £££ in his back pocket
