With the squad the City are building , I know they priority is staying in the Premiership .
But with the extra squad players not getting games how about keeping a first team squad and the other players forming a cup team and lets try to win a trophy .
You're thoughts please , be kind

Hope we go far in both cups.

Rotation sure. But hopefully w shave a squad that can still do well if we get favourable draws Vs lower league teams. We are the bullies now in many scenarios.

Any talk of sack it off is from cucks as some would say on here

Circumstances will dictate, no doubt. Squad players definitely for the earlier stages of the League Cup. I think the league position will dictate what we do for the FA Cup. At least with less games to play (league wise, and no other daft competitions), we should be able to manage the cups.

We do this most seasons it’s just usually it’s a crap team. This year should be good enough to go a bit if we get in who we assume though:

Dovin
KKH Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Torp BTA Grimes
Saka Simms EMC

Hopefully we get a good draw or two and can rotate fairly safely for those, but otherwise we should go for it.

A lucky route to the final and you 'only' have to beat 2 or 3 prem teams to win a major trophy.

need some good cup runs to make up for the lack of league games.

Couldnt give a fuck about League Cup. Tin pot trophy ive never seen the point of when we have the FA Cup. As for FA Cup if offeed winning it in exchange for relegation id take it. Many will disagree but to me the FA Cup has always been as prestigious as the League and always will be for me personally even if for younger people it clearly isnt.

I also think our ambitions may be a bit higher than just survival. Amenda was a real statement signing as that current Switzerland side is absolute quality and then we go and get Yeremenki (ill learn to spell his name at some point) neither of whom are players who will be looking at clubs just to survive. As for Tchaouna his quality is self evident, has pace power and a good delivery and fuck knows what Burnley were doing with him . If we sign another 3 players with their profile no way are we just trying to stay up, we are building towards something much more ambitious.
We have a massive part to play as well. Rushworth was dying to come here due to the fans passion. Hamer regretted leaving moment he left hence he kept coming back , Yeremenki specifically mentioned the fans so i assume BTA bigged us up at the world cup so the word is spreading among the pros. Nobody wants to leave...even the bit part players.
In 87 much was made of the camaradie of the players which took us to glory. Dont underestimate that brothethood spirit Robins spent 8 years building at the club that Lampard has brilliantly taken on and run with. Even if we have a shaky start (we often have done in any league the past decade) we have to keep a cauldron atmosphere home and away. No moaning if the new signings struggle early on as remember as kf today we all think the recruitment has been brilliant.

Might be worth a bet on city to win one of the cups .
I will look at what price Coventry are and post the prices on here

On Ladbrooks Carabao ( League Cup ) Coventry 80/1 .
The F.ACup Coventry 100/1 , worth a silly £5 ? .

I'd be happy to get knocked out first round of both cups and concentrate on staying up. League is the priority.

I know why managers do it, the money is all in the Premier League but personally I'd take 3rd bottom and winning even the League Cup (with the hope of bouncing straight back) over 4th bottom.
Winning things is becoming increasingly difficult and rare for clubs outside the chosen few. I doubt I'll see it happen.

To be clear I'm also a hypocrite so when we put out a weird team and lose to some no hopers I will be saying its for the best 😆
But when you do that and accidentally end up going quite deep, thats when you start really wanting to go for it.

We can become the King of Shaves 🩵🩵

A couple of rounds at home at least - Sheffield United and Middlesbrough

Staying up is the priority , and I think we will be safe by Easter .

Fully understood and expected us to bin the cups off last year. Our focus needed to be on the league,
But with the quality and levels of players that will need minutes this season I hope we give a good account of ourselves in the cup runs.

Yeah definitely, a good chance to play any players that don't feature in the Arsenal game and it will still be a high quality line up.

Can definitely see us playing the squad players in the cups to give them minutes and a chance to impress while allowing our main players to rest.
