Yes as a cov fan i wish he joined but from a player perspective i think he made the right move. Why would you chose a relegation bound team over a playoff hopeful???

Because it is people looking without their sky blue tinted glasses on. :)

I agree Nick. As much as I was really disappointed in him not signing for us, I wish him well as a player. (Although I REALLY want us to stick it up Reading on Saturday!!) ;)

But he hasn't joined a better club in reading has he? Cov are blatantly a better club and bigger club than reading, surely!

Are you still in the year 2000? Times have changed:

Who has been in the Premiership more recently? Reading
Who made the play-offs last year? Reading
Who has consistently finished higher in the Championship? Reading
Who has a reputation for bringing in young strikers and making them Premiership players? Reading

Pretty much everything points to Reading being the better move. Remember, ALF doesn't love CCFC the same as you or I.

For the record I think Coventry are a bigger club than Reading.

I also think If the lad did say what is reported his Manager must be thinking what a right stupid mong he has purchased a few days before he plays the club he has just 'run down'. Who said footballers aren't stupid. He asks for everything coming his way on Saturday.

What a total prick.

if they own their ground they are already 1 up on that argument:D

number of years since last in premiership oops 2-0

financial trouble? in goes the third...

loving your club doesn't stop you looking at the perspective of people who aren't connected to us, I would think 9 from 10 of footballers would go Reading over us. The times they are a changin

May I also point out:

Coventry are a good club, but with the way Reading develop players and the platform they have here, it is a great way for me to improve as a player and go forward.”

He's hardly slagged us off has he?

He's simply said Reading were a better option for him at the time, nothing against us.

Interviewer: "So, (insert name here), why did you choose Coventry City?"

Insert name here: "Well, great club, lots of history, nice ground, good manager and... whisper, whisper, whisper"

Interviewer: "Sorry, didn't catch that?"

Insert name here: sotto voce " Nobody else wanted me"

End of the day its my club and I wouldn't want to support anyone else so not too concerned about who is bigger or smaller. Worried that its written for him to score on Saturday. Still they will be welcome to a consolation goal after our 5

I dont think it's recent history that makes Reading a bigger club than Coventry City. Size of the Cities, trophys won, gates, size of the grounds, fan base etc etc.

I remember going to Reading in that Simod cup semi final and thinking what a shite ole this is. Tin pot little club (who won) with players we had never heard of. They weren't a 'big' club then in the late eighties but a small club on the Thames. OK they have over taken us in recent years but I still dont see Reading as a bigger club than Coventry.

Arguing about 'big clubs' is a meaningless snoozefest, it doesn't actually mean anything outside of the parameters people set to suit their argument. Preston were one of the more prestigious sides in the land and have a rich history so could argue their case, but that doesn't mean a lot to them as they sit in the third tier in 2011 while relative nobodies Fulham and Wigan enjoy the spoils of the Premier League.

If we go down as Reading go up, winning the FA Cup 22 years ago and pioneering the all-seater stadium won't give me much comfort.

Worth betting on Le Fondre to score against us......

Nevertheless, Le Fondre was probably right to join Reading: currently, they are a bigger and better club and were probably able to offer higher wages.

Sounds as if a Coventry bid was close to being accepted, given that Le Fondre implies he was given a choice between Reading and the Sky Blues

Big club arguments are retarded. You don't get any points in the league for history, fan base, size of city, size of ground and trophies won.

If I was a professional footballer with ties to neither club, I'd have picked Reading over Coventry. Wouldn't even have needed to think twice about it.

reading have a chairman with ambition and money to back the manager, we dont.

reading have been there or there abouts challenging for promotion the last few seasons, we havent.

reading have been in the preimiership recently, we havent.

reading dont sell every top player every time a club comes in with a miserly bid for them, we do.

so based on a football decision with no ties to either club, le fondre made the corect choice.

fair play to him.

Not being picky but... 24 years!! Nearly 25!

They do sell their top players every season though, just generally for a good sum.

Pobably because their top players are/were better than our top players.
