Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart has hinted that striker, Adam Le Fondre might not be at the club at the start of the season.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield earlier today, Mr Stewart said, 'Things are hotting up and we are having enquiries about him. Coventry seem interested in a move and the dialogue is still going on with Sheffield Wednesday.

'I expect something to happen this week because people are now looking forward to the first game of the season and by the fact that Coventry came on yesterday interest seems to be booming a little.

'We think a lot about Adam and he is a Rotherham United player but we are a friendly club and we invite anyone to come along and talk to us.

'People are talking about Adam Le Fondre but, as far as I'm concerned he will stay a Rotherham United player until things change.'

Sounds to me like Rotherham and Sheff Wed are a little away from an agreement, City probably made a call a few weeks ago which came to nothing and now Rotherham are using us to push a deal with Sheff Wed through.

And the dubious Chairman of Sheff Weds is of course the infamous friend of Fester and Portsmouth Mr Mandyprick. Sure he is driving a hard bargain for Alf and we are being used to get the price up. Last week hadn't we enquired if we could have him for nothing and when we were told they wanted more than 50p we scuttled of into the shadows? Would like to think we were competing for him but I doubt it.

Don't see why the club would deny it - this way we all think the Doolalay is trying to get new players and not just more financial chums onto the board - why ruin our illusions with the truth, don't want to start a trend.

I said last week when this story came out that it could just be a negotiating tactic on our part. I remember similar things coming out in the press when we were trying to sign Eastwood. That deal was considered dead by the press a couple of times at least before we eventually completed it.

I think there's a way to go in this yet and I wouldn't rule us out.
