Following is an announcement from Land Rover regarding the Wasps move to the RICOH.

Land Rover has today been announced as the new main club partner of Premiership Rugby club Wasps. The club is relocating to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, furthering Land Rover’s commitment to rugby and the Coventry area.

Land Rover’s partnership with Wasps is the latest addition to the company’s long standing support of rugby at all levels of the game, from Rugby World Cup 2015 and Premiership Rugby to the community game, where thousands of youngsters benefit from its annual Land Rover Rugby Premiership Cup.

Wasps is currently based in High Wycombe but have today confirmed its acquisition of the Ricoh Arena with immediate effect. Wasps will play their first home game at the Ricoh Arena in December 2014 but until then will continue to play home games at Adams Park in High Wycombe .

Speaking at today’s launch, Phil Popham, Group Marketing Director, Jaguar Land Rover, said: “Today’s announcement is not only an important addition to Land Rover’s growing rugby sponsorship portfolio, but represents a significant increase in our investment within the Coventry area. We are proud of our heritage in the region and already support a number of local community projects, so with Wasps confirming its move to the Ricoh Arena, it offered us a fantastic opportunity to further strengthen our community links, engage our thousands of employees and Land Rover owners who are also rugby fans. We are excited by the club’s ambitions for the future on and off the field, and look forward to the start of our partnership.

“This new sponsorship complements our long-term support of Premiership Rugby and we remain committed to our long-standing relationship with Coventry Rugby Club.”

Nick Eastwood, Wasps Chief Executive Officer, said: “Today’s announcement is a watershed moment in the history of Wasps and the professional game. It will help us realise our ambition to re-establish ourselves as one of the best teams in Europe and will guarantee the long term success of the Club.”

I'm very disappointed with Land Rover too. Comments such as with 'Wasps we see ambition'...............actually no what you see is a fully fledged franchise operation where your preferred team are already in the top league. A Midlands based company kicking in the teeth of Midlands sports teams.

Aye. If it was all about the sport there was a team already here that could have been bought and built.

Shit last couple of years for Rugby in these parts, if you add in Rugby Lions going pop thanks to a true mentalist who makes our lot look like amateurs.

Wonder if he's involved in this in some way...? ;)

I bet if this had happened a year or 2 back we would have had the Rugby World Cup here.

Now that would be one thing I would want to see.

Was talking about this at lunch.

Interesting fact, did you know this now gives Wasps the biggest league rugby stadium in Europe!

Biggest rugby stadium in Europe in a world class stadium.

Can kind of see why the council were salivating over this. Bad for Wasps fans, likely to be bad for Cov rugby and who knows about the City, but from a financial stance of money coming into the local economy I can see why they would be so keen for this.

As I keep saying though, doesn't mke it right.

We need to get over this.
It's done so we need to get CCFC in the mix.

Sisu need to put up or go.
The new stadium will never happen and everybody knows it.

Sisu do us a parting gesture and get that 50% option that appears to be on offer.
You might even leave Coventry smelling of roses

So all those Anti Franchise moaners who work at JLR should look at themselves.

After all the more profit they make the company, the more it has to spend on franchises such as these.

They should all block resign to show their distaste in all of this............

If Grendel employs me as his PA for £100k pa, I'll do my bit by sucking the money out of the company by being a workshy layabout!
