Lack of transfer (the myth) (2 Viewers)

The flip side is in real terms only 8 teams finished above us if you discount the 10 point deduction, so only a third not the majority performed better than us over a an entire season (yes I know our form nosedived). So from the 5 remaining in our league sheff Utd (4 signings), Peterborough and PNE (1 signing) and leyton orient/Swindon (0 signings).

Also a good point but I come back to my OP on this thread. We finished with a much weaker team than we started the season with. Mainly through loosing Clark in January, add to that the loss of Mousa we have to make 2 or 3 good signings just to get us somewhere near where we were pre Christmas. We didn't have a play off team in the end, with or without the 10 point deduction so what beckons next season? Mid table mediocrity if we replace the strengths we've lost, worse if we don't.

Based on how we finished last season and the lack of activity in the transfer market we've shown so far I fear the worse.

Fair enough but can we at least give it another 10-14 days before we start panicking over the lack of signings, like I've half the league haven't signed anyone and only 3-4 teams have signed more than one player.

I must say that if you put yourself in SISU's position it isn't really surprising. These here court shenanigans have a huge impact. I would imagine the transfer/wages budget will vary between 0 and a number close to zero depending on the outcome.

As I said in the other thread, we haven't signed a player in June since Boozy, Westwood & Gunnarsson in Ranson's first season.

We have, however, had this thread in every season under Sisu.

so, by that record, signing players early is well worth while ?

The point isn't that it's a good strategy, but that it's a consistent strategy, nothing to do with the JR.

Though if we're to take that point we have to remember Beuzelin is the only player we have signed by this point in a season, so maybe the data's not that watertight ;) (though I did like Boozy)

He was a good player, shame his legs had gone. Sometimes that isn't apparent until a new season.

Can't quite understand either the point of the thread or the fact we haven't signed anyone. I thought that Pressley and Waggot's mantra was wait until everyone else has done their business and then we will pick up the scraps and shite that is left.

The point of the thread makes more sense than the one suggesting lack of signings an indicator that we're going to be liquidated.

Good work stupot, Sadly wasted on this site though. Grrr, NOPM, why aren't Sisu spending a fucking fortune? Grrr, Otium. They won't liquidate, I know because I work in a factory.

You know what because you work in a factory?

I also do factory work. The company I work for invested over $1billion in Europe over less than 20 years on a product. I worked in that section for over 10 years. It hardly made any profit. But it took up a lot of working capital. This costs money. They closed down the whole operation throughout Europe last year. It cost a lot of money to shut it down. Our share price went up a fair bit when it was announced although it solidified the loss.

Pressley

“We’ve identified some targets and Steve Waggott will continue working on things,” he said. “Any players we have an interest in will be informed but we’re not really close to securing anybody at the moment and I think the likelihood of anything happening before I’m back from holiday is very slim.
“I’m not in any way concerned about that because I believe we’ll get the right players in and we will be very active in the last two weeks of the month.”
