king won the lottery when he took over
he came in and within 6 months had a team at Wembley and joined on an upward curve
During that summer got over 30mill in player sales
yes we are in a much better place off the pitch with the investment but that’s down to Robins and co who built the foundations in which made it possible to recoup 30 mill to invest
we haven’t made the next level with him yet and that’s what he will be judged on
let’s hope this season is ours
As a committed Coventry city fan why do you find it almost impossible to give King any credit ?Please get it right. Vik and Hamer paid for Grimes
king has improved us off the pitch but he came in at a time of an upward curve
we will never know but I wonder how he would have been taken if no Wembley that season, no 30 mill for Hamer and Vik etc
the guy won the lottery by getting us cheap. he’s not spent an awful amount on the club
Where does your negativity come from ?He has got us from let me check. From the championship to the championship.
Another loyal subject of the blingdom
He took an opportunity and has made us a better club. Theres no denying that. Eventually he will get to the point where he needs to sell or get additional investment but for now we cant really argue with where we are.

He didn’t get lucky, Hamer and Vik were assets of a business he bought after undertaking due diligence.
He then could have sold one or both in the January to instantly realise value for himself but he didn’t he in fact added to the squad in the January.
We missed out on promotion and the sale of Vik and Hamer was inevitable as both players wanted to leave. Again he got top dollar for them and again didn’t pocket the money but reinvested most of it in the playing squad in a way that would help create a sustainable approach to improving the squad for years to come.
The training facilities are at last worthy of being a championship team, our back room approach is modern, and our commercial activities have never been better ( even though they could still be improved further in my view )
He has made errors with ticket pricing in my view but we have 24,000 season ticket holders so I even I have to concede that in the short term it’s not damaging us.
if you speak to people in the business and agent side of the game they have nothing but positive things to say about Kings impact on the club and yet you a committed fan find it impossible to be anything other than unbalanced about him. Very odd.
everyone would take where we are but to say that’s down to king is ludicrous
we are where we are because of Robins and boddy
they are the guys who got us through the doldrums
king inherited the groundworks nothing more or less
He’s put some decent infrastructure in yes, but to suggest he’s done more for the club than robins or some of those players listed is complete and utter disrespectWhere does your negativity come from ?
What’s your issue with our chairman ?
Would be interested to know your thoughts.
Why call him Bling ?He’s put some decent infrastructure in yes, but to suggest he’s done more for the club than robins or some of those players listed is complete and utter disrespect
His own brief let’s note.Well we've had two play off since he came in he may only have to provide on or two more and he's fulfilled the brief of 3.from 5 , might be on the slide, might get promoted, might focus on other aims and lose focus and momentum might win out on every aspect.
Are you Will King? Why call him Bling ?
It's a term of affection,he should wear it well. Are you Will King?
a quick look through your posts and you were quite happy to call Fisher a C U N T and Seppala a Witch
Even lottery winners can mess things up though (remember that Michael Carroll?)
He could’ve sold Gyokeres and Hamer in the January window when we were still mid table
No afraid not.Are you Will King?
a quick look through your posts and you were quite happy to call Fisher a C U N T and Seppala a Witch
Calling him Bling is nowhere comparable to calling someone a C U N T.No afraid not.
So why do you disrespect King.
lol
I have praised him.
Off the pitch it’s more progressional but we haven’t progressed on the pitch. despite all the money spent etc..
He did win the lottery. he was one of the few owners in football who take over a club on an upward curve
most owners come in when a club is going downhill
Why call him Bling ?
I have concerns over how we’re funding the operation given the levels of spending without significant sales the other way. Clearly if we sneak a promotion that becomes irrelevant but if we don’t, he needs an exit strategy and I hope that amounts to simply selling the club on. If it amounts to an asset stripping exercise, he’ll have a SISU-esque legacy.I have total respect for Robins.
I know the guy well and always speak highly of him.
His time ran its course with us. He would be the first to say that.
My personal opinion is Doug King is doing a brilliant job behind the scenes and setting us on the path to the premier league against very very strong competition without premier league money.
Yes totally mental.I personally don't refer to him as bling, but to get upset about it is unhinged in my opinion.
Are you a politician ?Calling him Bling is nowhere comparable to calling someone a C U N T.
Calling him Bling is not disrespectful. I’d imagine he’d get a lot less upset about it than you.Are you a politician ?
Why not answer the question without diverting onto a completely different topic.
Yes totally mental.
Next they’ll be expecting us to call him Sir Doug
he didn’t win the lottery. He came in to a failing football club which as you rightly say had a great manager and 2 outstanding players. Thats not lucky. Overall we were badly run and falling apart off the pitch.
You also can’t use the Vik and hamer paid for grimes as that money came in 18 months prior. A lot happened in that time so you can’t use that. So KKH was the Vik money also?
I’m not having a go I’m just picking you up on some points. We largely agree but you clearly dislike King for some reason which is fine but I think you will find most fans are really happy with him as am I. He has pretty much passed every test so far.
Deal.Meet in the middle, Sir Douglas Bling. Compromise is good.
Meet in the middle, Sir Douglas Bling. Compromise is good.
Night and day to most of the sisu reignThis is just plain stupid.
Some people on here just show disrespect to everyone. There's no need for it. No single person alone got us back to where we are now. What Robins did for us was heroic with what he was given. But it wouldn't have been possible without certain players that grew with us.
King has been better than we could have hoped for. He hasn't asset stripped and kept the money like he could have done. He has continued to put money in each season for running costs so we can keep this squad together and continue to improve it. He brought in Lampard and his team when the cheaper option would have been to keep Robins. He paid £3.5m on Grimes when he didn't fit 'the model' and we won't see a penny of it back. Yet on here so much disrespect is shown to him. Some people must have very short memories. How about comparing him to SISU?
Sorry i forgot Robins and Boddy financed all of the improvements to both on and off the pitch. Yes it was money generated from sales but the previous regime, to whcih Boddy was integral, would have sold both for peanuts and not reinvested at all.everyone would take where we are but to say that’s down to king is ludicrous
we are where we are because of Robins and boddy

To not give King any praise at all isnt just ludicrous it is just showing your personal vendetta against him.
Are you saying King didn't get the max for them....much more than the vast majority thought possible...then spent the whole amount on new players and not keeping millions behind to cover running costs because he had no choice? Please get it right. Vik and Hamer paid for Grimes
king has improved us off the pitch but he came in at a time of an upward curve
