FORMER Leeds and Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell is at the top of Coventry’s wanted list to replace the sacked Andy Thorn.

Make Stu's day that!

Another definite no for me

If we ever needed to grasp the mettle and move forward it is now ,lambert ,poyet, rodgers , clark and others show that a young hungry manager can take a club upward .Have we not learned anything from the last decade ? We employ managers on the way down time and time again, and they take us down with them

We've been down the experienced route and its failed horribly, I'd even prefer Ince to Blackwell and I definitely don't want Ince!

kevin blackwell would be a backwards step might as well kept thorn

He would not be my preferred choice but he is hardly a backward step

Thorn had a paltry win ration of 22% and had 10 league games with no win

Blackwell is at 39% and has been in 2 Championship play off finals

Also before talking "context" 47 games were at crises club Luton where they lost several key players and incurred points reductions.

He is infinitely better than Thorn.

Getting Blackwell in may not be a backwards step, but it certainly isn't forwards either.

I wouldn't say so. He inherited two very good Championship squads at Leeds and Sheff Utd, and STILL failed to get them promoted. He also took two footballing sides at the time and turned them into kick and rush merchants. Both Leeds and Sheff Utd's demise arguably started with Blackwell. Although AT's win ratio and stats aren't as good as Blackwells, KB has had two very good sides at his disposal. AT didn't, not of the same quality as KB had. If KB ruined two good sides, how the hell is he going to inspire a faltering side like Cov? Plus he would argue with himself if locked in a room on his own by all accounts, the last thing we need.

Not proud to admit it, but my folks have got the express since I can remember and not once have I thought they take any notice of any clubs outside the top 10 of the premiership. Absolute craphole of a paper that I very, very rarely trust!

I know some Luton fans and they hated Blackwell, they called him Badges, because he claimed to have this qualification and that qualification but produced nothing even when he built his own squad, he joined a sinking ship and was relegated (can't hold that against him) but then he sold a load of decent players the following season and in their place signed mainly crap, the club went into administraion (not his fault - bad businessmen who had a dream that failed) 10 months into his management and only 6 weeks into administration, he wanted out and said he was resigning, but the administrator sacked him instead the day after LOL, Liverpool were going to give Luton all the money from the FA cup replay game at Anfield until Blackwell mouthed off, he is arrogant and his side kick John Carver is even worse, he just wanted to punch everyone! it was them v the fans for all 10 months, the going got tough and he bailed!!

I should add Don Hutchinson was at the club that year, he said he'd go without two months wages he was owed because the club was in trouble, and he even went on to sponsor two of the town youth squad - top man Don.
