It was nice to see that Keiren Westwood played this afternoon for Sunderland. Made a great save from a Darren Bent 1 on 1. Hope he gets a bit more first team action now.

there's nothing wrong with keeping tabs on former players

To be fair, there have been plenty on here crowing about Westwood not playing, "benchwarming", "be back in the Championship on loan" etc.

Hope he does well, deserves our thanks for the three years he played exceptionally well for us, not going to especially look out for him, unlike some who do just to do a "told you so".

Do you think he keeps tabs on CCFC ?

Well didn't Jordan Henderson recently namecheck CCFC as being part of his development- so players do sometimes look back.

Don't care if they do is anyway, KW was an integral part of the side for 3 seasons and clearly has the potential to be a top-flight keeper.

Judging from posts above, some fans like to live in a bubble where nothing happens outside CCFC at this moment in time... sad.

Oh kieren's shit just like the rest of the players that have left Coventry, forget the points he saved the games he won for us, he's shit.

Also while we're at it so is dann - McPake's twice the player he is, and marlon's crap, and Gunnar was woeful except his first season bigi is 100% better, turner was slow anyway so who cares.

Well he does have a point. Westwood was a good goalkeeper who always gave 100% - It's good to see the occassional Coventry player making it to the Premier League. If Sunderland play here I will applaud him.

i dont doubt he was a good keeper. And he did save us more points than he lost. He was a bit arrogant though and did have his faults, like my other post suggested (vulnerable at crosses and didnt always command his area). Every player has their faults, but i didnt just highlight his faults hecause he's left; we could all see these while he was with us.

I was happy to see him come on and make a great save as well. Hope he keeps the shirt now.

It funny, I actually thought that crosses, and the commanding of his box wad actually one of his strengths. When you think back to fullop, smeichell, Steele, kantstopolot, debek, and the other goalies we've had since Relegation, Westwood was by far the best and most commanding at crosses than any of them. He would come and actually catch the ball. In fact i always felt confident that when westwood decided to come for a cross he would always catch it.

His biggest weakness for me was his distribution, his kicking wasn't great.

Entirely agreed Stu, I thought his handling from crosses was incredible and he commanded his area very aggressively. If he had a weakness, it was long-range shots that he sometimes didn't anticipate, thus leaving him flat-footed. But I can still only remember 4 or 5 of them over his time with us.

I did like Fulop a lot too, though. I'd say he was our second best since The Prem days.
