Ship Collins and Wilson both out.

Dovin is going to be a while so we are going to need a decent understudy.

Collins needs no explaining, Wilson stuck to his line like glue last night and letting the ball go through him in the first leg. Don't care if he pulls faces to the camera.

I would keep Wilson, I’d ship out Collins and at least one of the youngsters and sign someone to develop. GK is way down the priority list IMO.

Wilson has shown himself to be a class act as a teammate and squad member, and his distribution is nowhere near as bad as some people here seem to think - I’d be spending all and any money at the other end of the pitch this summer.

Wilson’s fine.

Apart from the first goal in the last leg and was superglued to his line last night.

Even before then you could see how indecisive he was and he was causing panic in the defence. He went to run out, then he stopped, then he came again, then stopped. What should have been him getting the ball ended up in a corner for them because the defender had to then deal with it under pressure.

not sure who would like to join cov as #2 knowing you've got wilson snapping at your heels, and who is going to be better than we've already got.

I don’t think Wilson was responsible for any of the goals we conceded across the 2 games.
Dovin is clearly our first choice but Wilson has been a huge improvement on Collins, and is generally good enough.

Collins needs to go, but how often does a back up keeper usually play? This season has been odd due to injuries and loss of form. I'd be half tempted to keep Wilson as back up. Bring in a first choice on loan and give Dovin the season to fully recover and then we can look at the situation next summer.

Wilson is as good as you are going to get for permanent number 2
Suspect he will be number 3 and as we seem to have decided we need 3 keepers that works for me.

This season is unusual, how often do clubs have to use 3 keepers because of injury?

Bring in someone to challenge Dovin as we know he will be out for half of next season. Then you've got your first and second choice with Wilson to back them up and make up the numbers in training.

Yep I know what you mean. If it’s the comedy factor we are after they should put Laurel and Hardy on in the changing rooms beforehand.
Gets a free pass it seems because of his “character around the place”.
Don’t mind him sticking around as a back up but we all already know he’s not the answer but was the lesser of 2 evils over the last 2-3 weeks.

Weakest position at the club and cost us this season. We’ve signed some very good players last 5 years and turned a profit on some. Goalkeeping not one of them two below average keepers in Wilson and Collin’s. I’d be looking for a very experienced 33+ keeper until Dovin Is back

So you want to attempt to release 2 contracted players in order to sign 2 understudy goalkeepers that are good enough yet happy to be understudy to a 23 year old keeper. Another classic

I'm kind of with this really. How long is Dovin out for?

Did you see their first goal in the first leg?

Not directly responsible for the goal last night but if he moved off his line a foot he could have done more for both the cross and the corner. You can guarantee if we put a corner in like that, their keeper would have come and cleaned it out and then gone down holding his head. He did it multiple times.

Overall Sunderland were far better at the dark arts, far far better.

Well, I was there but admittedly haven’t seen a replay. Looked like yer man had acres of space and finished well. I’ll try and have a look.

I ain’t saying Wilson is Donnarumma or that I think he should be our first choice, just that he’s good enough to fill in when called upon to do so…just that we don’t need to buy 2 goalkeepers…or even spend money on 1 new one.
Dovin will come back and all will be good.

Disagree it’s been our weakest position. Dovin was a good signing but Sod’s Law came for his ACL. Up to that point, he had put in a decent claim to be POTS.

If Lampard won’t commit to Wilson as Number 2, we absolutely need to sign another permanent GK. It’s potentially harsh on Dovin if it costs him the number 1 spot but we can’t let his injury hold us back.

We’ve been through this before spending loads for strikers and neglecting goalkeepers, we need to sign a new keeper as Dovin could be out till next year and we can’t afford to start with Wilson next season , I think he should of done better with Sunderland’s first on Friday he’s ok as a number 2 but not as a number 1.

Delusional. He was at fault for the first Sunderland goal, for the second goal he did not make the initial error but he was culpable, look at his positioning and response. He is a clown and should be nowhere near a team with aspirations of promotion.
