I honestly think some of the anoraks on here would defend city whatever, they havent played football so they know no different. our club is at the lowest ebb ever and you defend clarke. Who was shocking. We as cov fans take this week in week out, and we Boo Lee hughes... should have been the peformance was NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Looked ok defensively I thought. Offered nothing going forward though. Other players played worse, don't think he warrants his own thread, to be slated on.

Wasn't talking about just today, I think defensively is where he has been struggling most this season.
Against Swindon every chance they had came from his side or his mistake. Really thought he would push on in L1 but has shown no improvement and has no confidence.

that doesn't answer my question why does it give you the right to rant at other cov fans? i defend clarke because he did well im not defending baker who i rate but was shocking today and im not defending anyone else so .

Problem is he is better defensively than Christie.

No one has said everything is rosey, but you are scapegoating one player. IMO Clarke was v poor going forward but was generally solid defensively. Moussa, fleck, baker, ball and Reckord were poor, Cameron had dodgy moments, wood has to take some blame for the second goal, bailey was okish, and McGoldrick makes an easy game look so hard.

We still lack pace, goals, leadership, movement and physicality the exact same problems as last season......rosey it ain't

Clarke was solid first half, kept their left winger in his pocket for the most part. Got past him once or twice but they didn't look threatening from out wide - least forget they score two soft goals from a defence point of view (Not closing down)... Calling for his head when there we're worse players is a tad harsh.

I must of watched a different game. Thought there left winger was the mom!

We may need to raid the youth squad for Pace ,he hinted today in the interview on here prior to game or was it yesterday that we need to develop our own .For all the defenders we seem to generate its dissapointing that we just can't seem to do the same with offensive positions ,oh for Ritchie Partridge or a Mifsud.

I actually thought Clarke did well defensively. He looked scared when on the ball... Any wonder???? Infact most of our players looked scared to have possession because the fans are waiting for them to make a mistake. There is a reason that a lot of players with proven track records have come here and looked half the players they have been... common denominator... the fans! I wouldnt want to give my all for most of the muppets that sit round me.

thought Clarke looked like our best player first half, he nor Reckord got very far forward. He was ignored a couple of times when he did get in good positions. Wood and Cameron were far worse today at the back.

I thought clarke was poor his crossing when in good positions just wasn't good enough. considering we are in a lower league and that he should be more experienced than last season, he looks worse.

I remember him being poor after coming back from an injury last time before coming good.

Seems that maybe the same pattern could be emerging this time too.

Hope so. When he was good he was very consistent last year.

I have not read the full thread but find it difficult to comprehend why Clarke gets a full thread in his 'dishonour' whilst others get off scot free. There also appears to be a general Reckord 'love in' that I don't understand. He cut back in and broke momentum countless times today. For me he's not much, if at all better than Hussy. And captains Wood and Baker....., just poor. The sooner Conor is back the better for me.

I have to say I'm no fan of Clarke. I've been reading about his "potential" for a few seasons now. He can't cross, struggles to find his man, is shrugged off the ball easy and tends to get skinned by whoever he happens to be facing. Rather have Christie every time.

Clarke seems to have gone backwards from last season when he was one of the stand out performers in the second half of last season

Personally I'm not a fan of Christie, he can't pass or control a ball, he dives into tackles and has no composure

Clarke is the better defender. Don't think there is much doubt about that, with Christie being the more threatening going forwards.

A couple of seasons ago I wasnt a fan of him at all, last season he really started to do well but this season it seems like he is going backwards.

Im not fussed if he wants to tweet about his cat or eat nandos as that is his business so not sure what that has to do with it.

Could it be since that injury he got he has been not right mentally?

In my opinion Christie will end up playing a higher standard of football than Clarke.
We will have to wait and see.

Don't know how everyone else feels about this, but I think Clarke shows a little bit of poetential. But simply isnt good enough at the moment has been the weak link on so many occassions and was AWFUL today.

In my opinion we cant keep waiting for him to improve, time for a change.

He was man marking Zoko who was quality down that wing, I think you are being very harsh on Clarke, plus Baker seemed to be being dargged into the centre of midfield leaving Clarke on his own.

He'll be ok when Bell is fit then all the people who like to single out our own players will be distracted away from him.

Constantly gives the ball away. Should be the first thing a footballer should be taught. Pass to your own team not the opposition.

Looks nervous when he has the ball. He should be playing in the reserves to get rid of these traits mentioned.

The fist team should not be the place to make these mistakes. I believe he was England under 19's at one stage, so he must have something about him.

Just needs to cut out the mistakes and pass to our own players.

Clarke should be playing at Nuneaton with all his mates! Cyrus is ten times the player!

I dont see how he gets in our side at all! By far the worst city player ive seen for the last few years. Sell and get rid asap!

The lad is 20, has a top spec range rover and takes home well over 20k after sponsors and all that each month.. I honestly wouldn't be too bothered about people trying to talk about how shit I was doing if I was him

Do we have a thing about full backs at this club. Now hussey isn't a regular we have now moved on to abusing Clarke.

Think I must have been at a different game on saturday. I thought clarke had a generally good game. Maybe this is because I prefer to focus on positives rather than always try and see the worst. Clarke was up against a decent winger but managed to get in some decent tackles and blocks and also got forward and on more than one occassion got a decent ball into the box. So he was also beaten on occassion but he kept trying and I am sure even ashley cole has been beaten on occassion. Clarke continued to find space going forward - unfortunately in second half his team mates rarely utilisised that.

Worst ever player for cov - having a laugh - wasn't even the worst player on saturday (in my opinion)

Clarke is the best 1v1 defender at the club.

It is a shame that the league isn't judged on games of Wembley Singles
