I thought Jordan had accepted the contract when first offered?
Good news? i personally think hes dreadful, his performance during the leeds away game for example was a disgrace. Dunno whos worse him or barnett.
Get lost! He's young and still developing, was noticeably improving towards the end of the season. Has good pace which is something we lack as a squad. Got great potential to be a really good attacking fullback, imo. Plus he's a Cov lad and wants to wear the shirt, we could do with players like that. I like him, and he's only going to keep getting better.
I'd love him to become what your describing, but I can't see that happening. Oh and he doesn't look like he plays for the shirt..
I think it's so so harsh to hate on some of our hottest young prospects because of a couple of bad games they may have had in their first full season. Remember that Ben Turner lad that was apparently really shit? You don't get chucked in the team as a young lad and shine from the outset. It takes some time for players to develop. He looked really good in the last couple of games of the season.
His passing will need to improve 100% for that, not the best tackler of the ball either imo. Plus, I can't think of a single game where he's looked "fired up" to any degree or anything other than complacent.
You can say that about most of them after last season though
I'm only slating clarke and hes been getting games for the last couple of seasons and i saw more in Turner than i've seen in clarke to be honest. I'm merely commenting on what I've seen, who knows how good he could get.
Put in a couple of cracking slide tackles in one of the matches at the end of last season (can't remember which, it was either Reading or the home game before that). And 'complacent' is a bit harsh, he was hardly treading about like Freddy, was he?!
Everyone cries out for a bit of pace in the squad, and then when we have a young bloke coming up that has it, everyone's so quick to point out all the other faults in his game, assuming he's never going to improve them.
It might sound like i'm some sort of Clarke megafan touting him to be some sort of saviour-in-the-making. That's not what i'm getting at, but what i am getting at is that he's a kid that's only had half a season (or less!) in the first team, possibly even only as a result of injuries in the squad. He'll make lots of improvements in his game yet, and so to write him off at this stage is jumping the gun by a mile. He's a really good young prospect, i reckon he'll be fighting pretty hard for starts next year.

Yet more 'fans' who have to find a player to pick on. I was at the last few home games and one guy behind me constantly barracked Jordan Clarke, even when he played very well. We have a young prospect, not the finished article, but never likely to be if so called fans keep knocking him. Players have bad games even 'lord' marlon who missed 7 games from 2 avoidable red cards. He is a good right back for our level who will get better.... if allowed to by all those haters out there.

Why bother discussing individual players on a forum if when people disagree about how good someone is they just get branded haters and ganged up on by people who think every player is great and so they're the best supporters.
I have absolutely zero idea what team you've been watching, but I'm amazed if it's Coventry City! Christ, last time I looked he was getting slagged off on here for going in too hard..he can't win in some peoples eyes, obviously.
How about the fact that he's the best English RB in his age group, and has been for the past 4-5 years? Maybe if Liverpool or Arsenal take an interest (a la Thomas) some people will realise what a cracking prospect he is.
He hits the odd stray pass but no more than anyone in our side bar Bell/Clingan. I actually thought the way he linked play with McSheffrey and the forwards from wide positions last season was superb. He doesn't get much praise, yet twice last year he was criticised on here, during the game, within minutes of making his only error! I didn't see any of that for King when he played the odd poor pass or missed a hatfull-and he undoubtedly put in less effort than Jordan! But criticism of King was High Treason round these parts then, so everybody instantly wiped the incidents fronm their memories
I don't understand why so many fans dislike one of our own players so much. He got booed more last season than any other player where I sit, closely followed by..Cameron and McSheffrey. Every other club gets behind their youth products, rather than making them the first target when things go wrong.
I'd say this about Clarke:
Pros
Fast
Gets forwards well & provides the width in AT's formation along with Hussey
Good first touch
Goes in strong and wins the ball regularly
Scored one of our goals of the season last year
Capped for England at every level up to U-20
Home produced and passionate about the club
Cheap wages
Loyal-was quick to agree to a new contract where others asked their agents first
Versatile-he can do a job at LB or RM-not very well, but he'll get better when out of position with experience
Intercepts the ball regularly due to his pace
Marked 3 or 4 quality players out of the game under AT's management (eg McAnuff)
Cons
Needs to bulk up (comes with age)
Missed a sitter at Midboro
Called a prick a prick on Twitter
Gave the ball away once by trying to dribble past him (string him up! He tried to beat his man! Who does he think he is, Ronaldo?)
And actually, I did think Turner was a cracking player at the time he was booed-certainly better than Arjan de Zeeuw! He won everything in the air, went as close as Wood ever did to scoring without luck, and was at 19 already one of the strongest defenders in our division. One slip up against West Ham didn't make him bad player, and 2 or 3 misplaced passes in a season by Clarke don't make him one either. Concentration is probably the last aspect of a young players game to develop fully.
Leon best, Jay Bothroyd now add Jordan Clarke when will people learn to get off these kids backs and give them time.
Expect him to leave when he comes good then.
