Andy Thorn said in an interview at the start of the season that Jordan would be ready to play in the Premiership in 3 years. After his form end of last year and his return to fitness recently, he is very much making this seem possible.

I thought he was fantastic again at the weekend.

Scored last time, created one this time, so comfortable on the ball, dangerous going forward and solid in defence.

Although Cyrus Christie has surpassed all expectation this season, (and will deservedly win Young player of the season), he needs to improve his defending and have more time to develop.

Agreed - Clark's return has been significant in helping with the return to positive results. Similar to when he came in last season results improved then. Oddly does not seem overly popular. On here he has been criticised very excessively and even where I sit in the ground some moaners are always willing to have a go everytime he misplaces a pass.

He's already acquitted himself well against some very good players, including Adam Johnson!

I agree about him not being that popular, but with people getting carried away over Bigi and Thomas' potential, they are overlooking who IMO is our best prospect and most likely to "make the grade".

Keep it up Jordan!

Agreed I also think Nathan Cameron will become a top player over the next season or two

Looks like we've got a really good academy. Really fortunate as without it we'd probably be down by now.

If we can just get new owners who won't sell them all then we've got something to build a good team with.

I agree. I'm still not convinced by his defensive attributes but he's improved of late and is more than making up for it at the other end. Fair play to the lad.

I think he's a very good young player, and I agree with Duffy, he gets a lot of unwarranted stick from some fans. He's confident on the ball, he's pretty quick, he's a decent 1-1 defender. I like the way he rarely loses the ball, and is happy to roll it in to the strikers feet.

I think Christie has done really well this season, but imo Clarke is at this point in time a better all round player.

Jordan Clarke could learn a lot from players like Richard Shaw and Gary Mcsheffrey, regarding physique. Shaw and Mcsheffrey are both smaller players but have strong upper body strength, hopefully that will come as he gets a bit older.

Both of his goals so far have been pretty peachy for a defender too.

Agree he's been excellent. I just wish he would be a bit more confident on the ball. He's shown that he's obviously got the ability to impress in the attacking third, but when the ball is played out to him with space in front, he never attacks it. He runs forward a bit tentatively and then looks for the pass inside.

Since he came back from injury he seems to have filled out a bit, got a bit more confidence and improved in a lot of aspects of his game. He's so comfortable on the ball. Thorn reckons he's the best 1 on 1 defender at the club.

Its great to have competition. Just a bit of a shame we have 2 who play in the same position! Could Christie do a Keogh and learn how to play Centre Back?

Not sure about this but wasn't Christie's original position centre back?

Wouldn't forget his goal at Cardiff either-top class composure for a striker let alone a full back.

Christie was a right winger - hence his ability to take people on and put a decent cross over. He needs to bring his defence side up though, we've conceded a lot this season at the back right post

I'm not convinced that he's a world beater just yet, but he has shut up my moans about him over the last few games.

Say's he's a defender on the offal -

Can someone tweet him and ask him what position he plays?

Glen Johnson, Maicon, Walker, cole, Evra, etc can all run at people and cross but aren't wingers.

In fairness KD did say that he was a winger, not that he still claims to be. Quite a lot of players start in one position before finding their niche in another.

I watched the Academy play throughout the whole of last season at Allard Way and can confirm that Cyrus Christie played right centre back for the whole campaign!

I haven't heard many dissenters at games, but I know what you mean. I am probably as guilty as most as not seeing the wood for the trees... opinions are formed on players (and managers..?), not always easy to shift, and they do not always receive the constructive praise / criticism which their individual performances probably warrant.

I am with you; I have never been sure why Clarke has seemed to attract so much stick (all relative, but fans have not warmed to a Coventry lad, all in all). Not the finished article, but had all the right attributes of a decent player. Decent pace, physique, liked to get forward and defend in fairly equal measures, can't argue with his general distribution, perhaps not so much of an asset in hugging the touchline in the final third with a view to getting a cross in (under Thorn, this has been something of a given with our full backs, sometimes working and sometimes not). Playing with a bit of confidence, long may it continue.

Christie used to play in central midfield for the academy, but was centre back for Woodlands. The Club may have followed suit in pushing him back, as you say you saw last season. However, I know that he was converted to right back by my mate at Woodlands in Year 11, as he has banged on about it each time he has come up the football with me.

Must admit I've not thought much of JC since the Coleman days - was told of all the potential but never saw him run at people or tackle.
His last few games have been a whole different story though - he's tackling now and doing it well and his forrays both Saturday and for his goal have been something else. Long may it continue with us!

At academy level they get moved around to find their best position, but it was Cyrus himself that said he came here as a right midfielder....

I'm not sure he did. My mate was his coach at Woodlands. He played centre back for them and centre midfield for the Academy. Someone says they watched him last season in the academy and he was playing at centre back, so they obviously moved him back. But my mate converted him to a right back at Woodlands and the Club then followed suit.

Considering how good he is now as one of the children, imagine how good he will be when he is ready for championship football at 30

When I seen you had posted I already knew it would be some sarcastic comment about his age as that is all you seem to post lately.

Boring

He will get better with age and experience.
