Huge loss. We now have serious lack of pace and creativity up front.

It now means Nazon has to start games and possible formation change. He can't be used as an impact sub.

Maybe worth taking the gamble and at least giving Kyle Finn a place on the bench. Nearest thing we have to Jones in terms of dribbling ability and a left sided wide player.

I'm going to throw all my faith in Ryan Haynes, this is where he steps up to finally shine in a more forwards role.

I know I'm in the minority but he can fill the gap till January while we search for loans and go from there.

When he has 8 assists and 6 goals by January.... ok let's not get carried away.

Seriously I think he will do ok there if used

If he's guaranteed game time and his relationship with MR isn't broken, you'd have to consider Kyel Reid. If it had to happen, I;m glad it's before the Xmas window, which allows us to plan for the rest of the season. If it had happened just after, we may have had nowhere to turn. Also, if we had received a bid forJJ at the 12th hour of deadline day and no replacement ready, we could also have been stuffed (me trying to see a positive out of this!) Step up the rest of the team, starting Saturday.

No seriously we are.... windows closed. We've just lost our only forward minded ball carrier who's got pace, Haynes has a few similar attributes that may we'll see us through this tricky spell. He's got the odd goal in him too. Done it in previous seasons.

A slight change in approach but in all honestly we're out of options at this minute in time.

Another ACL ripped to smithereens, shitting hell.

This does indeed make January's transfer window extremely important. Still, not likely to get a player of Jones's caliber, are we?

As positive as I am, this injury has left us very nearly toothless in attack. Not just that, we will suffer tactically without Jones too.

He's not for everyone I understand that but we need a ball carrier with a change of pace.

He ticks both them boxes

Shit news for the lad....we will really miss him.

I'm not just saying this but we could all see it coming really though couldn't we? How many times did we say that he's our only real attacking threat and sooner or later he would get injured. Admittedly I thought it would be from someone clattering him but still.

What can we do? Obviously this is where Robins earns his money but we are either looking for a lucky loan, or tempt someones best player away from them in the Jan transfer window.
For fuck sake.

Yeah, we all thought he would probably get injured at some point, but out for the entire season? A real body blow.

He's certainly not many, and in truth I'm not either.
But now we can ask him to play a different role that has limited defensive responsibilities and give him a little freedom to roam the flank.

The thing with someone out wide is - they can either whip it in or beat their man (unless it is a Vincenti!) Although not by any means the finished article, we have all seen that Haynes does have that in his locker. If he was consistent with it he would play at a higher level. I think we need to stick him out there until we get a replacement or bring back Kyel Reid. Interesting to see what MR does - starting this Saturday - should be a 20k attendance in anticipation of our new style attack!

That goal vs lincoln is the sort of stuff we will miss

We must not gove up tho. Not that many good teams in this league. We can still do it

Just used a full box of man size tissues to wipe away my tears.

Hope this doesn't derail our season, let's get promoted and dedicate it to Jodi

Terrible news for him. For this to happen to a 20 year old at this stage of his career when he's showing so much promise.
What a test of one's mental strength this must be. I hope he has Callum Wilson's phone number! Ruptured ACLs in both knees and then back with a hat trick.
Change of formation is definitely needed.

If MR wants to keep the current system then he has got to try throwing Sayoud in for a chance or experimenting with both DKEs on the wings.
The next couple of months Robins has to react and be bold.

Wonder how Kelly is!

Guessing his is more of a strain and clearly not half as bad as an ACL, but I do worry for Saturday and games to come if we have to rely on the same midfield options we had at our disposal as we did Tuesday

The idea mentioned earlier of playing three at the back with Grimmer and Haynes as wingbacks might be an option. I don't like the wing back system as it always seems to produce sterile performances. However, both Haynes and Grimmer are athletic characters, both can carry the ball and both have a trick they can use to get past a player. Might be worth a try. Some of the teams we have played are so negative that they might actually be able to play a very attacking game without weakening the defence too much.

Haynes will start wide left with grimmer wide right on Saturday with stokes at left back and Shipley alongside Doyle.

No, but I don't think they have opposition putting 11 men being the ball for 3/4 of the game either.

Apparently Reid refused to turn out in a pre season U23 game when asked at short notice
Understandably Robins couldn't take that and Reid had little option but to go out on loan
Possibly enough water has passed under the bridge since then for the situation to be re-visited in January
Of course he's not JJ but he is our player until the end of the season and he'll be looking to earn himself a contract somewhere at the end of the season

Reid has a bruised heel
The only real way to fix that is the have a few weeks off but he's been trying to play through it

Very little will change this Saturday, too short notice to go in with a new formation I'd imagine. Stokes will come back in and Haynes in front of him. Shipley or Stevenson will partner Doyle should Kelly not be ready. Grimmer hopefully will be back too.

Morecambe in 2 weeks is when you will likely see anything different to how we are or in the cup next weekend

Not being funny, it shouldn't take weeks to change a formation.
