I feared the worst when I saw it. Just our luck that it had to happen to our best player. If Jones is ruled out for the season I think we can forget about any prospect of finishing in the top 7. In fact, I predict we will finish in the bottom half of the table if Jones is out all season.
January isn't too far away though. If he is out for a large amount of time at least the window opens in 5 weeks or whatever it is
Nazon?Jones is our only really direct attacking player. andreu was the other. The rest of our players are sideways players...
Whatever happens with Jones and Kelly, the transfer window is open in just over a month.
Even if we had to limp through to then our season would not be lost.
People need to calm down a little bit, and if anyone mentions Kyel Reid again there's going to be a shanking.
We will miss him greatly. He is the one player to unlock defences, take players on and score goals.Without Jones we are in serious trouble, there's no hiding from it. We barely score as it is.
I would love to see the stats about how many goals we've scord with Jones not being involved.
Robins isn't stupid. If Jones is out, he'll find a way of working around it. Whether it's changing formation, brining in someone else in January, bringing through another youngster etc, I'm not sure but the bloke's not stupid.
Any news on Kellys injury? That would be as big a loss.
I'd be tempted to rest Kelly this weekend, with the FA Cup game the following week you could give him over 2 weeks to let it heal. Would rather do that than have him playing when not fully fit and possibly making it worse.Robins said it was a reoccurence of a bruised foot. Think he was out for a game or 2 earlier in the season with the same thing so sounds like he's been playing through the pain/managing it until now. Hopefully a weekish of rest and he should be ok - it didn't sound like it was too serious.
This is my exact take on it too. Jones often gets doubled up on, which in theory leaves space elsewhere but we don't have the other creative players to take advantage of this. I worry where our chances let alone goals will come from without him...We will miss him greatly. He is the one player to unlock defences, take players on and score goals.
I have always said that it is not a striker we need, but another wide player to complement Jones. If Jones is out I would say we now need two.
That's assuming we can magic some money up to sign replacements.
