McSheffrey and Fleck are completely different players, you cannot compare. Im impressed with what I am hearing about Fleck. Got himself fit, working hard. Hes got a good footballing brain and is a good passer. Unlucky not to score Saturday. Really impressed with Thomas. Seems like he is starting to show what he can do in which Liverpool must have seen. In Steven Pressley we trust!! Back the boys

Well you can, because McSheffrey played on the wing or behind the striker, where Fleck played when he came on under MR. They are 2 different types of player, but can still be compared, for example, their impact on the game, using stats, assists, goals and what not, which were heavily in Fleck's favour all season last season despite a chronic lack of starts. Ok, he was v unfit when MR came in (but so was the team as a whole presumably because Thorn was lax about fitness, surprise!). In my eyes, you could see that Fleck was a class above, even last season, even when playing badly, you could just see it in the way he moves the ball about and to be honest, I think the reason he was unpopular last season was because English fans, don't appreciate the passing game in the same way they do abroad, therefore don't have the patience to tolerate players like Fleck.

Secondly, I'm really happy that Fleck and Thomas are forming a formidable centre midfield partnership because both are good on the ball, and I think this CM partnership is here to stay, I think it could cope in the championship (especially since both are young and will naturally grow as players), and also because so many people said they'd be too weak to be effective, the only minor critique of them is they could chip in with more goals, but that doesn't concern me, yet.

For those who watched the Sheffield United game on Sky, Uwe Rosler said the key to beating Coventry was 'to stop Fleck and Baker in midfield' when asked if it was Wilson and Clarke the players who needed to be stopped.

Perhaps one of the main reasons I was happy with the appointment of SP was because I thought he could get the best out Fleck.

SP is achieving more than anyone could realistically expect, his decisions have proved to be vindicated all throughout. I'll admit it, I wasn't keen on us playing 4-4-2* (even now I think we should switch to 4-5-1 in the last 20) and he's proved me wrong there.

*Admittedly, last season I was a big critique, still am, but for Cov, last season, it didn't suit us, but SP has worked on a system that suits us and atm, 4-4-2 is a perfect match for this team *shudders*.

I think Pressley would've agree with you until recently. He said himself he didn't think 4-4-2 could work for us until he saw another club (Bayern?) do it.
