Fair play to that man, deserves so much credit. I think he's been great in the last few starts. Really level headed, reads the game better than most. There is a way to play the game where you don't need to rely on pace and I think he's making that transition now.

I'm usually the most forgiving and supportive of fans to our own players but I will admit even I had written him off due to his odd running style but sod it if he can play like he has recently I'm more than happy.

I've never particularly rated him, but he is just an old fashioned backs to the wall, block everything and clear everything, defender and in the box, he's very decent. No nonsense.

Impressed with him last night and he needs to now keep his place

Fair play to the lad.

Lati does the basics right and is a decent center half at this level. Fair play to him. But for the first time in a long time we had 10 men behind the ball for much of the second half when we had the lead with Haji as our only outlet upfront. I think this strategy worked really well and had we played like that against Norwich and QPR, we could’ve won those games as well. Anyway, we just have to really focus on the remaining games and get at least 28 points from them which I think should be good enough for autos.

There were instances yesterday where I was very nervous when we passed the ball around the back amidst some heavy pressure from Boro. But going long time and time again proved a smart move and even resulted in a goal. I hope we’ve given other teams a blueprint for beating Boro now. I think most teams should be able to play in a low block and pump long balls over the top against Boro. Their backline and goalie is not that great and capable of being rattled.

I've never been a big fan either, he's more steady than Kitching and stays at the back more we're not getting caught out on the break as much

You reckon Ipswich will win at least 12 of their past 16? Can’t see it.

Not lost when he’s started. Not conceded more than 1 when he’s started. The excuses an ifs and buts will flow but his record speaks for itself.

He was fantastic last night and has looked very solid in his last several appearances, so fair play to him for knuckling down, getting through the period of being frozen out and coming through when we needed him to.

I do wonder, in hindsight, if the simple fact of the situation is that Kitching and Thomas aren't good for each other and the latter thrives when paired with a more experienced leader next to him. Thomas was also fucking excellent last night and seemed so much more focussed than he normally does alongside Kitching.

We’ve already been caught once by Boro in this crazy season and there may still ge twists and turns ahead. Just can’t makecany assumptions on what others may or may not do. Besides Ipswich, you’ve also got Hull, Millwall and obviously Boro in the chasing pack. So it’s not just a 3 horse race anymore. We were at a 2.39 ppg pace for the first 18 games, then 1.36 ppg for the next 14 games. If we can maintain a promotion charge of 2 ppg pace for the next 14 games (i.e 28 points), we should be able to see things through. Our away form has to be miles better than what it’s been the last couple of months where we’ve only picked up 3 points on our travels.

Last week you said we’d get a nil nil draw against Sheff Weds and lose all other home games

Fair fucking play to him he’s been exactly what we’ve been calling out for since Fadz left in the last few games he’s started, him and Bobby is a perfect combo for back against the wall. For someone unusually short for a CB he’s also quite good in the air, still not great on the ball but who needs your defenders to pass the ball more than 5 yards, keep it simple and pass it off to a midfielder or fullback until you have to lump it

He deserves to be playing at the moment. Has been setting the standard and fighting like you want to see. According to Lampard he has been immense in training and getting properly stuck in, so hopefully that is having a good effect on other members of the team.

He might not be the best defender on ability, but sometimes that isn't what you need. We have looked too soft at times recently, but when he plays he adds a level of physicality and dishes it out to the opposition. Keep it up Joel.

Him sending the Boro player who tried to press him to the ground immediately after kickoff definitely got the crowd going early and set the right tone

I agree with most you say but actually think he might be the best defender on ability in a pure defensive and reading of the game way. You don't go through Man City and England levels not showing that. Unfortunately his size and pace capped out and stopped him progressing further. But like I said earlier there are more ways to skin a cat and maybe the penny has dropped a bit for him, he could be that guy who is there mentally a second before his opponent. If we don't leave him isolated chasing runners he could have a bit of a renaissance/ re invention.

Let's never put him at right back again though :D

His defensive ability has never been the real problem with Lati to be honest. He obviously isn't the best in the league by any stretch but he's fine for this level.

His main issue which has often led to us conceding goals/chances has been his complete lack of athleticism.
