IF these rumours are correct, i'd be gutted to see Joe go. Any Cov fan would be devastated that he is leaving IF this is true. But IF he goes, we need to look to the future and at least Burge could be given his chance. But if we decide to sign someone else, Scott Flinders would be my choice. Hartlepool keeper, i think he is out of contract too. Very much like Joe, but younger and lower wages. Great reflexes but has good handling of the ball too

No need to mate, some on here just think that along with Sisu/Otium pissing money away on the loses at Sixfields, they will just keep pumping money in to counter act FFP. Cannot see them doing that and you're right, FFP will really kick us in the balls.

its obvious murphy will go along with many others. SISU will not be offering attractive contracts despite telling the league they will find losses. Clearly not keen to put equity into the club ( which they ould do if they wanted to overcome FFP and launch a serious assault on promotion.
You could tell by the publicity they gave around Burge signing that Murphy would go

Does anybody know if the club has actually offered any of the out of contract players a new contract?

There was a piece in the CT last week; Pressley saying he will hold off on offering contracts until he sees who else is available. I'll translate:
I've been told by SISU that I can not offer contracts until after the JR.
The bell tolls.

I doubt Pressley will be offering contracts at all. He may tell Waggott & Co who he would like, but will have little say in what pay and contract length is offered to anyone. So he may end up with nothing like the squad he would like, and this is the reason I think he is likely to be off sooner rather than later. Someone will take a punt on him and, whoever they are, they could hardly have less ambition than City.

Have to sadly agree with you Sid. If we don't move back to the Ricoh for next season we will be in big trouble on the football field, never mind off it.

Ah well that makes sense. Just thought you meant from a 'nicking our player' kinda way, which is yet to happen, yet the same was said when 'Uddersfield were linked with Christie

No they haven't not improved ones anyway and soon they will be bad mouthing certain players Cyruss Christie for one telling fans how they offered them this and that but the player decided to move on to create a riff between players and fans well try to.

What on earth could they possibly gain from creating a 'rift' between the players and the fans?

Looks as if joe Murphy is off and why not. He is a very good goalie and still has 2-3 good years left. Can he play championship? Yes I think so.

Unfortunately I would love him to stay with us as he is a key reason we wernt relegated along with Wilson of course. A kid coming in and playing is just the cheap easy option that doesn't match ambition of promotion. Like we don't have enough kids. Makes me blood boil. Save a few thousand here and there to get relegated. Short sighted sisu as always.

Did'nt Pressley say he would have a similar budget to Nuneaton next season,so don't expect to much.

the Marshall comments from Pressley suggested that he may well have to wait for something (maybe the JR, maybe an injection of funds, who knows) before he can offer contracts.

The club is going backwards faster than anytime in its history. Time was always going to give the fans the answer's to how the owners were running the club. And if the JR goes against Sisu the blame game will have to stop and all roads will lead us to JS doorstep... JR will not give the fans the club back or make the club stop the decline, but it may give all of us more insight in the truth.

HUDDERSFIELD Town have entered talks with Coventry City's out-of-contract keeper Joe Murphy.

The former Scunthorpe United stopper is due to travel to Huddersfield today (Monday) to enter talks with manager Mark Robins.

As previously reported, Terriers boss Robins managed Murphy for a short time at Coventry and it is understood he’s keen on linking up with the Irish keeper again.

Having released keeper Ian Bennett, Huddersfield are said to want Murphy to provide competition for Alex Smithies.

I don't think it necessarily means he will go there. He will know what's on offer here. Huddersfield will offer him a better deal for sure but he is also on record of saying his family are settled and he wants to play as many games as possible. Moving to Huddersfield does not mean that. Of course there are other clubs who could potentially offer 1st team football and a better pay packet.

Murphy did say just recently that he doesn't want to go somewhere and sit on the bench and as good as Murphy is I can't see Huddersfield not wanting to keep Alex Smithies in the first team picture..

If we can't afford to offer Murphy a deal to keep him at the club I can't see how we can offer Westwood anything that will catch his eye.

Nice idea though.

He doesn't need money after spending 3/4 of his contract at Sunderland sat on a bench earning £30,000 for doing Jack Shit..

Westwood would walk into most championship sides, really can't see him dropping to league one.
