Very good League one keeper. If (or when ;) ) we get promoted, if prefer to see him replaced, especially if we're going to be competing up top rather than down the bottom as we're used to
Division 1 player ? Name me a dozen championship goalies then !!

he is a decent keeper no doubt but you are also as only as good as your back four, last year this chap was getting stick but we were getting battered every week. This year we are not so he looks more competent plus we look more tactically sound.

He is a very good keeper, probably too good for League 1, but because his name is not Keiren Westwood some people want to see the pretty rubbish Chris Dunn start based on that one average save v Derby last year.

But can be arsed to tell us all he's not good enough or only good enough for league 1. Do you go to matches ?

Well yes, as i thought this post would be an ideal post to put my opinion on Murphy, given the title :)

Also, im only reiterating what I've said time and time again. My opinion hasn't changed since the first time we were linked with him.

Decent League one player, not Championship.

And yes I do go to games. What makes you ask such a question?

I just find it strange that we get a fantastic result against top opposition away and you feel fit to post a negative. Typical armchair stuff. Murphy is a better keeper than he is given credit for and not that far behind Mr Westwood IMO

But I wasnt being critical of him tonight! And in fact i think over this season ive been quite complimentary about Murphy.

Not sure thats negative (maybe our opinions differ).

Oh and considering im on the coach on the way home from Shefield, my opinion certainly isn't that of an armchair fan :)

Love Murphy. Fantastic shot stopper and has improved in terms of punching and command of his area (excellent punch tonight for example). Think Oggy has taught him well and certainly have more faith than last year.

joes murphy is the titus shambles of goalkeeping making mistakes and blaming the defence, simple saves which legue 2 keepers can comfortable get even blue square keepers can comfortabley catch yet murphy allows them to just roll into the net, we have big Edjenguele who heads the ball away from goal and saves murphy multiple times, deals with the corners and murphy just stands on his line for corners, so the ball go in the box murphy offers no threat an oh as always a goal players gett lucky chance and well murphy in goal well its going to go in, ill give it to him he is decent at pens and one on ones but he is not the best keeper in leagues one hes far from it and if we get promoted which we will because of players like frank moussa, stephen elliot, william Edjenguele, leon clarke, john fleck and carl baker, not murphy, we will need toget a new keeper whether its an average championship keeper or ever the best championship keeper any one but murphy

I know everyone is entitled to an opinion, but doesn't it have to be based on some fact?

From where I'm standing he's been left hung out to dry by his defence more often than not-though I strongly disagree with his 'quality distribution'.

Murphy isn't a top keeper. If he was he would be sitting on the bench at Sunderland.

Murphy is not that bad and we are talking about a Div 1 keeper.
Get off his back, he is the best we have.
