Joe Elliot has done nothing more than try to help the club. The problem is with anyone trying to help this club is that you always get some ill informed bigot slamming down peoples efforts.

Oh yeah here we go one of his mates:jerkit:

So why should he know any better this time around?

Maybe he'll have learned from experience, maybe he won't know any better.

To me the point is that JE is a fan of the club, who having made a reasonable success of his business was in a position to support the club with his money (sponsorship of the youth team and on one occasion the first team) and his time.

He was given the courtesy title of associate director in the Richardson years, which seems to lead some posters here to believe that he was responsible for the poor decisions that were made at that time.

When I was a member of the Premier Club at Highfield Road, I saw JE most weeks greeting guests, showing people round etc etc. Personally in his position, I'd have been in my own box sipping a glass of vintage champagne - but he chose to give up his time, maybe to help the club, maybe to feel involved, who knows - but I think it is grossly unfair to question or deride his support.

So after the so called take over what do you lot think is really going to happen JE and all his yes men mates that are with him at the away games will end up in positions in the club. Then when we have a bad spell of form on the pitch out will come the knives and in will come another manager upsetting what is already a good team not perfect but moving in the right direction started by these owners. Waggot has selected in my opinion two good managers and has things moving correctly lets not have this ruined or again we will be moaning and bleating again. It is pissing me off that all we seem to do is talk about everything other than the games.

Good point, who are all those fat 50/60 something blokes in suit, tie and lon coats sat with the fans at some away games?

That's true, both as I recall non-exec directors.

I also seem to recall that Hoffman resigned when he disagreed with SISU's change of policy.

So the point you were making was?

That it's blind hypocrisy if someone supports these 2 people that were part of the SISU machine.

Hoffman resigned at CT4's loan to Liverpool, hardly a damning rejection of SISU monetary policy.

Tommy, I couldn't agree more. I too was lucky enough to spend 15+ years in the VP's and it was a great social environment, for which Joe took a prominent role. The one thing that always came across in any discussion with Joe was his love of the club. It is a shame (and a sign of the times) that a successful local businessman no longer has the financial clout needed to support and grow a professional football club.

I think that if you're going to make such statements you really need to support them with some logical argument.

As I stated earlier, they were both on the Board in the earlier part of SISU's ownership. As also stated earlier, they were NEDs.

Can you explain to me what you would have had them done in that role, that they obviously failed to do, leaving them open to your vitriol?

Gary Hoffman resigned because he disagreed with the owner's policy changes. It was not one individual event.

Joe Elliot a complete leach another ray ranson will put nothing in and take loads out will wait for the first oppotunity to sack the manager and ruin everything that is going on at the moment people like him get on my nerves if he was that interested open his wallet. Bloody Leach.

Doubt he will open his wallet. Apparently he now has to pay for his coach travel to away games after fans complained earlier this season that he had been travelling for free. Thought he had a big flashy house and a flashy car??

Despite the fact that the story is apprently bollocks, are you insane?

Joe Elliott and Hoffman to guide the club through difficult times and onwards and upwards?

It's almost like Joe Elliott has never had any connection with the last 15 years or so of crap that has led us to this mess.

Hear, hear....at last someone else not looking at that guy through rose tinted glasses...

Like he "didn't open his wallet" when he sponsored the youth team, like he didn't open his wallet the year we couldn't get a sponsor for the first team, so he stepped in and did it.

Was that the type of not opening his wallet you had in mind?

And how many years ago did he last sponsor the youth team or the first team? By my calculations, 25 years ago?

Nobody is criticising his past sponsorships, for which he deserves a pat on the back.

But why cadge a free lift to away games? Supporters on the coaches complained because he has more money than them. Do you think he should have had a free seat to away games while other supporters were digging deep into their pockets?

To be honest, I have no idea if that's true or not.

If it is true, then I'd say it's a bit shabby.

I'd also say it should be viewed in context against the past financial support and the (I assume) free hours that he's put into the club over the years.

JE is a decent chap and one thing for sure he is a City fan.
He would do his best for the goodness of the club.

TOTALLY agree Italiahorse.

Joe, because he has gained success through 'blue collar' means has become the butt of many jokes, including mine, when he has stood for our club through thick and thin.

Unfortunately, the majority of city fans who go on GMK and a few on here think sacasm and irony are humourous when we all know they are the lowest form of wit.

JE has done more for our club, as a supporter, other than Kev Monks, and had put so much money himself into the club.

GOD BLESS JE

Well, God only knows what the club would be like if Elliott wasn't trying his best.

At least others who have screwed up the club had some financial advantage to themselves out of it, Richardson, Robinson, McGinnitty, Ranson, etc., but Elliott does it for nothing!

Sarcasm and irony might be considered the lowest form of wit but it is also considered the highest form of intelligence.

This Joe Elliott front man title is putting me off as I keep thinking about him in tight leather trousers prancing about like Freddie Mercury.

From my recollection Hoffman and Elliott were on the Board for almost 4 of the 6 years under the current SISU reign, god help us if they get involved again. Joe has a big heart but his agenda is to be questioned, Gary struggles to add up.

He is a high profile Cov fan and needs to be in the mix.

JE has always seemed to be a nice guy when i have met him, certainly wants whats best for the club, i can not fault that....... but chairman? sorry not for me - but thats just a personal opinion and nothing against him

I don't have a problem with him as chairman as it would be merely a PR role as a figurehead. The decisions would come from the owner and the work would get done by an MD / Chief Executive.
