He did what he believed was right and like many others at that time and Since has been fooled by Sisu's spin.

The Man is an out and out City Supporter like the rest of us and it shows that he is not happy with what is going on we all make mistakes this was one of his.

Not everybody was taken in by them, wasn't just me.

I don't even believe that Elliott, Ranson or Hoffman were taken in by them, they knew, but didn't really care.

Though your position on things changes with the prevailing wind, one thing you are consistent with to be fair is being a moron.

He has been involved for decades and has made key strategic errors. His cv of achievements is poor.

The fact you are giving him a reference hardly helps his case.

Joe Elliott just said Sisu were given the approval of the council and Higgs to buy the Ricoh in the early days. Which poses the questions: Why didn't they?

Agreed, But he should also ask why did the council back out fo SISU to restructure the ACL mortgage.

Sky Blues said:
He also said the Football League should have come down to Coventry to investigate and talk to the various parties.

They should have, most definitely. As it stands they have got one side of the story so the decision was always going to be slanted towards the move. Could the other interested parties have not contacted the Football league?

So hes a city supporter, so what so am I, but I wasnt on the board that let Richardson spend spend spend, I wasnt on the board that sold the stadium, I wasnt on the board that had to go cap in hand to the council and then the Alan Higgs trust to fund the new stadium, I wasnt on the board that sold out to SISU.... I could contine, but Uncle Joe was though.

He is culpable, but no not totally to blame, but it fekking grates with me that people excuse him as 'he is a fan'. We all are, but most of us havent been involved in stupid decisons that have led to the idiot owners we have now and the total fekking mess we are in.

There is of course an irony in that many of Joe's detractors for his part in bringing in SISU are often far from being SISU's biggest critics.. :thinking about:

No, not in the slightest bit a reference to you. Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean that they are after you

Let me explain it slowly: a lot of people who criticise Elliott because he brought in SISU don't criticise SISU. Certainly not as much as they criticise ACL (Hiya Lord :wave. Some of them outright support SISU.

So they should bloody love Elliott!

There is of course an irony that many of Joes's biggest fans are some of (now) SISU's biggest critics.

A huge disconnect from reality and facts in order to fit things nicely into how they see them.

Not only in the Joe Elliott way either.

"SISU should pay the agreed rent as ripping off a poor charity" often followed by:

"Well SISU should have renogtiated the rent down when they took over"

Therefore advocating that the poor charity should have had millions less over the years.

Another one:

"We took nearly 5000 fans to MK Dons away, we're great supporters", followed by:

"Only going to all away games now, no way can support owners uprooting a club from it's home City and fanbase"

No, the best football I've seen (by CCFC) was probably in the 88-89 season. The best football I've seen by us since relegation was Thorn's caretaker spell at the end of the Boothroyd season. I think you'll find that I was in the majority in wanting him to take over as manager. But it was just a honeymoon period as it turns out. Any chance of it proving it to be sustainable was destroyed by your Ken and Joy's.

All that has absolutely fuck all to do with the subject in hand though, does it? Fuckwit.

How did he? You are completely deluded.

He went as far as preventing what is happening by:

- being on the board which sold Highfield Rd
- being on the board which agreed to a ridiculous rent at the Ricoh
- being on the board which sold its rights to the food and beverage income
- personally collecting long held shares from individual fans in order to ensure that the SISU takeover went through
- continuing to sit on the board in the early stages of SISU's tenure where the rent issue wasn't addressed

My God he's tried....

I was actually referring to his efforts to bring a takeover consortium to the table.

I don't think there's much that can be said about this...I can still remember your "apology" for backing Fisher a few months ago where you came out against him...reminded me of all those Thatcherites abandoning her at the last

You're still miles off topic, though...your main weapon is to change the subject.

Think that even you now should have developed a tiny bit of foresight that, given Joe Elliott's previous ability to be involved with most of the poor decisions, boards and owners of recent times(he appears in the background of them all like some sort of incompetent Forest Gump), he may not be the best judge of character?

We already know that you aren't, so supporting Joe is merely compounding he error.

I say supporting, but didn't your support fairly recently go along the lines of very faint praise by saying "He's obviously not very bright, but he's a City Fan"?

He's just simply going to get some support for being a City fan who is in opposition to SISU and part of the group who want them out. His judgement is poor, his business acumen scant, and I wouldn't particularly want him to be part of the clubs future, but at least he may be of some use as an anti-SISU force.

Seeing as you love analogy's so very much: there are people who voted Tory last election who won't next time, you know-rather than killing them for being idiots, we need their votes to go elsewhere to get the Tories out!

There are plenty of people who vote Tory, get fucked over by them, but forget about how they've fucked them over 3 or 4 times in the past at election time and vote for them again.

Edit:

Talk about damning with faint praise!

Delibrately missing the point seems to be common place with you and your friend Grendel.

On discovering SISU were taking the club in the wrong direction, he did everything he could to force a takeover.

You, on the other hand, apparently knew well in advance.

So what have you done about this? Apart from sniff your own farts and say "I told you so".

it was a tough period for CCFC when they bought in SISU , im sure it was more of a desperate move than a business move , however i do not question elliots love for CCFC , given the position the board were in i can safely say most if not all would have done the same back then .
He is sky blue like the rest of us , as well as hoffman .
i think its a tad unfair to tar elliot with the same brush as ranson and sisu

When would you say that SISU were taking the club in the wrong direction?

From the start?

Sacking Dowie?

Appointing Coleman?

Selling Dann and Fox?

Sacking Coleman?

Appointing Boothroyd?

Hiring King?

Sacking Boothroyd?

Appointing Thorn?

Sacking Thorn?

How long did it take Elliott to try his hardest to try and push through a take-over exactly, and when was it he realised that SISU were bad?

I think that a bit of back story is needed here. In 2007 the Club was on the brink of Administration and the Co-op Bank brought in Kroll to manage the day-to-day business of the Club and to find a buyer: it was an administration in all but name. There were a number of groups of investors who came sniffing around. The Bank controlled the process. It was not the CCFC Directors, not the Council and not ACL but the Bank. The Bank decided that they and the other smaller creditors were going to get the best deal from Sisu. There was no choice for any of the other parties when the Bank told them what was going to happen. Joe took on the Chairmanship because the Bank wanted a non-shareholder director to act for the Club. This Joe did. The promises made by Sisu sounded good. The demands they made had to be complied with: my wife also lost the shares her dad had given her. The Bank and Sisu between them had everyone over a barrel.

Not everyone admires or likes Joe but without his effort a lot of things would not have survived the rocky path over the last ten or so years: the Diamond Club, Sky Blues in the Community, The Higgs Centre etc. For those older fans we could go back to shirt sponsorship, snow clearing and so on. Nobody is a saint but criticism needs to be fair and accurate.

PWKH, The Higgs Trust have been really hard done by in all of this, CCFC/Sisu is a business & the Council has billions as TF mentioned at the forums.
The charity is the biggest loser here & you & your family have done so much to support the football club!
I'm sure other fans agree!
Just wish CCFC could stay at the Ricoh!

Uncle Joe has always been reactive instead of proactive I'm afraid.

His latest foray into the land of many promises with that banker friend yet again has only succeeded in doing what they did previously which was hope and statements of "we are working very hard on a solution" and ending in a puff of smoke.

He may well be ardent supporter and a real nice guy but his record in success is appalling so I think he should learn to step aside and let the big guys sort it out.

PWKH, do you not see any benefits from Sisu at CCFC?
Also who brought them to the club in the first place? The Council? Ranson? Robinson?
