Is he really worth £32mil.. and what does that make some of our players worth?

Any comparisons to Rudoni in terms of value are just a lazy narrative, He’s 19 and has already played 109 championship games and been influential in promotion to the premier league. has all the potential to be a very good player, doetmund will make a profit on him.

Influential, maybe.
Potential, definitely

£32m is probably an investment and a bit of a gamble, you don't get much at PL level for that money, and that's the level he is tipped to get to.

He's 19, 6'2" tall, already quite strong and plays for England at U21 level. He's got good experience. Won promotion to the PL and played in high pressure games inc at Wembley in front of 80k fans.

With the right guidance, how good could he be in 4 or 5 years time?

I haven’t watched nearly enough Sunderland games to know whether he has or hasn’t, neither has any Coventry city fan. The fact he’s played 40 games in a promotion winning side would suggest to me he has been influential.

the fact dortmund are willing to pay what they’ve paid suggests they may know a bit more about spotting potential than Terry from Tile Hill.

They’re scouting department is usually pretty good at this kind of thing, if you’re unaware go and read up around a fella called haaland and another called Bellingham

They will have been watching him since he broke through at Birmingham, and are confident that he can have an impact on the team now and has plenty of development potential, they got it right with Sancho and his brother.

Due an error then. In the bits I have seen he is big and strong and a dreadful moaner like his brother but has a lot less talent.

Made a great tackle on Wright in the semi final but not worth that money

I reckon the professional scouts at Dortmund may have watched him a little bit more than you have. There’s a chance they might be in a better position than you are to judge his talent and potential

So what? It's a forum for supporters to give their opinions, none of us are professionals.
And as good as Dortmunds recruitment is, they so sometimes, like all clubs, get it wrong.

Hi Mr Bellingham.

Back in reality it's Dortmund taking a punt and hoping they can shift him on later.

He hasn't looked anywhere near that level of player yet.

Why can nobody be balanced any more and have to double down on every post as being totally one way or the other?

I watched him every time v us last year and noticed nothing special at all about him, but then I was there for the City and not really looking in detail at his movement or touch map etc. I'm sure those who are spending £30m will have put a bit more into it.

I do remember my Bluenose mate at work suggesting when Jude first came into their team that he had a younger brother who was thought even more highly of. Now he could be nothing, they've definitely overpaid imo due to his surname, but I doubt they'll lose much on him if it doesn't work out and might make a tidy sum if it does. At 19, to have the exposure and appearances in a successful team that he has, there must be something about him that a lot of top coaches at a number of clubs have now seen in him.

I agree with almost every point in this thread.
for me, he’s overrated, I just don’t see what all the fuss is about.

but equally I’ve only watched him play against us, which is 5 times I think, and I’m not a scout from a team such as Dortmund, and I’d heard from people who’ve coached them/at brum that he was the ‘better’ player.

I just feel if a player is ‘so’ highly rated and that much of an influence then he’d make much more of an impact in games. And when I’ve seen him play I literally haven’t noticed him on the pitch at all 🤷🏻‍♂️ (apart from that one tackle on wright in playoffs, which for me doesn’t make him a £30m player).
With sky blue tinted glasses on you just can’t say that about the likes of Rudoni or even Grimes.

Funny you say that. A guy at my old work knew the family and he was saying then that the opinion was higher on Jobe - this was about 4 years ago
