Yep, did a job at Ipswich. No doubt that he'd have players from his time in England that would want to play for him.

Yeah he did well at Ipswich but I'd rather have someone who knows this league. Lot of people have pointed at Norwich and Southampton bringing in managers early on in the season and getting promoted - both Atkins and Lambert knew this league, not brought in becaus people recognised their names*

What Norwich and Southampton did to get out of this league was simple; they got in a manager who knew the league and spent a fair bit of money. It doesn't have to be a big manager, it doesn't even have to be an overly successful one ( Lambert and Adkins had around 45% win ratio for Colchester and Scunnythorpe)

Lambert certainly did not spend a great deal on Norwich's promotion - one strange fact is that most if not all of the Norwich squad were British although I'm sure this is not significant?

He didn't do well at the Victory: poor results, very average football played...mind you he inherited a dreadful squad, apart from Kewell and a couple of others. Plus there may have been some behind the scenes issues which meant he was never going to be given a longer deal. Fair to say though that I, as a Victory fan, was not unhappy that he went back to Britain.
I know his record at Ipswich was pretty good though.
Would prefer others but he's certainly experienced.

He did spend quite a fair bit at Ipswich though. They had a great home record with an awful away record. That isn't consistant enough for me.

Chris Wilder has a similar percentage record to those 2 as someone posted elsewhere
Oxford united manager, first full season in charge took them up from BSP to L2, led them to safety with a 12th placed finish in L2, and last season was in play offs majority of season before narrowly missing out, and this season 3 wins from 3 top of L2.
