Excellent. Got you trawling back through old threads again. Now that is silly. Keep on with the selective memory re Dasilva. For the record I haven’t said he was poor. Just that he had nothing to do.

Nothing to do?

Do yourself a favour and at least watch the highlights. He was constantly so good that he should be on them somewhere. One of the reasons they were so shite going forwards was they just couldn't get past JDS. He did a couple of tackles that were so good that you would have been singing your praises for them if they were from another defender. Also his running with the ball was very good.

Why don't you like JDS?

If as you say they got in behind him 6 or 7 times then surely in your view he had a lot to do? So which is it?

Da Silva is technically one of the best players in the team, if not the best his feet are so good.

Kitch, van ewick and Da silva have been on top form because they have genuine competition for their place in the starting 11 now. Brau, Kessler Hayden and Woolfenden will be pushing them on.

Don’t know him to like him or not. Playing wise he’s a poor defender. I don’t think that’s in dispute

Genuinely excellent yesterday. Caused BCFC a lot of problems going forward and looked very confident defending

There's not much of a dispute. You're the only one left who thinks he is poor.

The point about Da Silva is, does anybody really in their heart of hearts think he's a Championship top 6 defender and the thought of him in the Prem is just hilarious.

He has always had fantastic close control with the ball , and this catches the eye of the spectators. But he is not even a top half of the division defender. When the ball goes out to the opponent's right, I always hold my breath. He always gives the attackers far too much space and his lack of physical size means he just can't close them down.

He'd be good as a wing back in a three at the back, but one of a back four, nah. I had hoped Brau was a replacement, but I am not sure what he is - Da Silva replacement or EMC cover.

No amount of dandy dan footwork can cover for JDS's defensive shortcomings. We need better.

Is this you using a lot of words to try and say JDS is a poor LB? Under Lampard JDS, like several other players, has improved a lot. Top 6? He plays for a top 6 club. We've now played 7 league games. How many better LB's have we seen so far?

Lampard sees a good player in him. I trust his judgment over yours.

Premier league player? Who said that? We would need nearly a full new team if we were to compete. It doesn't mean we don't have one of if not the best team in the Championship though.

As I said elsewhere, every other position on the pitch has had seven figure sums invested there in terms of transfer fees. It’s a testament to Dasilva that LB doesn’t look like a huge weak spot at the moment given how cheaply we’ve assembled our options there. He looks head and shoulders above the alternatives in the squad too (not literally obviously).

I never get this argument. We see opposition players play once maybe twice a season.

Leicester fans probably think Dasilva is the worst fullback in the league based on one game against Fatawu.

Michael McIndoe seemed to have stormers when he played against us and was absolutely wank when we had to watch him week in week out.

Only if you are a fool. He had a hatd time but he stuck at it and was up against one of the best players in this league.

He did, however was against one of the best wingers in the league, who gave him a torrid time.

You're assessing as he's our player and you have seen him play a lot and know that he's playing well, and you know he tried hard.

My point is, if you are a Leicester fan and that's the only time you've watched him. You will think that Fatawa will have had him on toast and he didn't cope at all. We assess other teams players based on 1 game maybe 2 if you go away or manage to catch it on TV. We don't see them week in week out.

Leicester can think what they like. They didn't score and our behind us in the league. Fatawu beat him twice and that was it, bta and grimes had him covered most of the time, if we're holding that against him after the other brilliant 6 games I really don't know what we expect from our players these days

Agreed. He got beaten on the halfway line twice by their winger, but then stuck to his task.

Having already said that I thought Jay was brilliant on Saturday and should have had MOTM in my opinion, I was less than impressed with Brau when he came on. If he is supposed to be cover for LB, then he has some work to do. I know he didnt play LB on Saturday, but some of the basics like keeping the ball and passing to one of your own were below parr for me, and I would go as far to say that he is third choice LB out of the three in my opinion at the moment. Hopefully he will come good with some work and coaching.

Got done and took his yellow which I won’t hold against him, was the right thing to do even if it meant he couldn’t stay on the whole game. Other than that can only remember one, which isn’t bad at all away against one of the best he’ll face. I think he’s has an outstanding start to the season tbh.

Even I thought he was ok against Leicester & I thought he was excellent against Birmingham. He didn't let Roberts get past him once by being better positioned & tackled him a couple of times, he also beat Stansfield & MVE to a long ball to play it back to Rushworth.

I dispute it. He's been excellent this season so far and at the end of last season. I'd have JDS as a starter over Bidwell every single time.

JDS had the grit between his teeth on Saturday. Was an aggressive, top notch performance. The players fight for everything now, proper aggression to our play. It's made a world of difference.

Totally agree. Haji was a beast all game. Ellis was fighting for that long ball from Rushworth that led to the third goal.

I'm enjoying seeing players some had written off, playing the best football of their career under Frank.
Dasilva and Kitching in particular, and soon to be joined by Eccles I am sure.

Everyone's missing the point. The point is not about Dasilva, but an example of fans making assumptions on opposition players based on seeing them play once maybe twice in a season. Whereas we seen ours week in week out.

Jay Da Silva, has been good enough to push Bidwell out. And has played well since Lampards arrival.

They key to him playing well has been that we have been on front foot most of the time. Which plays to his strengths. He will struggle and yes most of our team will too when up against better teams who have us pinned back. Just like he did a little against Leicester.

Overall it's ridiculous to suggest he's not Top 6 at this level..when we clearly are.

Dasilva had a bad game in a way - in the sense that his direct opponent tore him a new one. This does not mean he performed badly though. I’d have hated to see Fatawu up against Bidwell or Brau.

It's ok to switch your opinion on a player if their performances improve guys. Last season i thought he was better than Bidwell but that wasn't a difficult task as Bidwell regressed massively. Wasn't overly happy with either of them.
This season he looks a different animal, its only 7 games deep but long may it continue, he's certainly not the only player who's improved beyond recognition.

Last season I thought that JDS was a liability and that we'd be better off fielding 10 outfield players than an 11 that includes him. Just constant long balls being smacked towards wherever he happened to be standing because he stood no chance of winning the ball and didn't look confident enough to deal with the consequences afterwards.

It's an enormous credit to Lampard and his team that there now appears to be a plan in place when teams try it that seems to involve Kitching as well. Birmingham tried it a few times on Saturday and it was efficiently dealt with each time.
