Bidwell is poor and getting worse. The Godden comparison is apt. We need two LBs really.

We don't. There's several other more crucial priorities that need addressing first before a secondary left back.

I'd say that's pretty much near the bottom of the list.

Bidwell is a no brainer. Experienced and good to have in the squad. Will need a younger up coming talent to compete with him. Should be captain over sheaf as well

Having a skinhead is not qualification for being captain. He’s very quiet.

Hes nowhere near good enough for what we want and has never held down a first team spot since signing really. I don’t see the point in continuing with him when his contract is up.
That last bit is the bit I agree with.
I thought he was very good for us last year but was starting to slow up. You say he hasn’t held down a place but he’s played a fair old bit right?

Sure but now we’ve got to find a buyer for Dasilva or eat his wages. People hope Dasilva will go but I think it’s more likely this means he’s staying.

January 17th - No signings.
A forum descends into madness.
Rumours that King wants a quick sale now circulate.
An elderly Jamie Paterson finally considers a move to his home town club.
Arguments about Elon Musk are spreading like wildfire.
Is this the end of times for SBT?
It’s certainly not our greatest hour. 😀

Really?! That surprises me. He’s surely played more than Dasilva?
I’m trying to think who else he’d have been up against? McCallum? JWE?

McCallum would have been the player I’d have liked us to sign in the summer.

No I misread. He played more than JWE

Less than Maatsen, last two slightly less last season than Dasilva 30 mins more this season.

Still not exactly first choice.

It'll obviously be difficult to move him on when he'll be on a more than reasonable contract and has consistently struggled since he's arrived at the club.

I'll be very surprised if he's here beyond next summer though. At worst we'll have to loan him out for the season and shoulder a sizeable portion of his wages.

I think that he’s not been first choice ahead of Maatsen doesn’t reflect badly on him. I’m surprised by the Dasilva stat but I guess we had pretensions of playing wingbacks for a while.

Where’s Brandon Mason when you need him?

I'm not convinced it'll be difficult at all. For all his failings he seems to have many admirers among coaches, including at international level.

Some bright spark gave him until summer 2027!

I'm sure if you look at games we've played 4 at the back he'd be way ahead of Dasilva.

Starting to think people werent born when sisu took over, trips to Northampton and Brum, seeing cov get done over in league 2 with less than 5k in the Ricoh. Get a grip, this reality with DK is much better

It's clearly much, much better, but that doesn't mean he's above criticism or scrutiny, but some won't have a word against him

I keep saying it, but the fact we had sisu is the very reason we should keep a close watch on King or any subsequent owners.

It's a completely baseless theory. But I often find players like Palmer, Dasilva, Panzo etc will often bag themselves decent moves because of their start in football and the success they had at youth level. Even if they're not really at all deserving.

It's probably because they end up developing very good connections along the way.

So it's what I'm hoping happens with Dasilva in the summer.

Bidwell being the better player than Dasilva is an interesting narrative

Signed January 2022, we'd played 24 games at the point of his signing, so there were 22 games left or 1980 minutes. He played 1141 minutes. That said, he did play a few games at CB to cover injury, hard to say if we'd not had an injury whether he would have played otherwise, he was in the starting 11 at LWB in the game either side of his spell at CB.

2022/23 he started 40 of 46 games and played for 3492 minutes out of a possible 4140. Not even debatable that he had the most minutes in his position.

2023/24 he started 24 of 46 games and played 2049 minutes from a possible 4140. His competitor played marginally more 2249 but, his competitor did play in midfield once or twice. About 50:50.

In a left back role, the aerial stats and clearances matter more imo than the passing and dribbling which is more important in a LWB
22/23 back five risk averse low block, then yes Bidwell's aerial ability and general defensive instincts are what you want. Almost two years removed from that and under a more progressive coach, stylistically he doesn't fit and only regresses as time goes on. Dasilva defensively isn't good but he fits the style more than Bidwell. Either way I'd rather try and recruit two new LBs.

Jay would be fantastic in a back five but the defensive figures leave us too exposed to be worth the attacking ones in a back four.

I wouldn’t want to start Bidwell but he’s a safe pair of hands compared and experienced personality at the club.

oh i agree, no one is perfect, DK certainly has his ego and chrematistics, but imagine having gus/vik money in SISU's pockets.

If he would be fantastic in a back 5 why has he been shit every time he’s played there then
